I updated to FW 18.1.0 and atmosphere 1.7.1 applying the latest sigpatches. I use hekate 6.2.2 (but I also tried with the latest fusee).

Everything is working fine but I can't get tinfoil to run. When I launch it from the hbmenu I get a corrupted data error even though it's the latest version I could find on their websites.

I didn't update sys-patch because I seemed to understand it is redundant, could it be the cause of the problem?
Its outdated. I highly recommend switching to TinWoo installer. Its what I personally use and I never have any issues while using it. In fact, I just helped a previous user by the name of Hapse2 with the same problem and he is now using TinWoo.

Forwards don't work, some homebrew haven't been updated to support that firmware, and no game requires 19.0.1

@TheMILFofMallStreet69 If you're just play game backups, it should be fine. I'm currently on firmware 19.0.1, Atmosphere 1.8.0-pre, Hekate 6.2.2 and sys-patch 1.5.4 and, as far as I can tell, everything works just fine. 19.0.0 introduced some issues with old forwarders which you can recreate by using this tool by yourself if you want. Other than that, there might be some lingering issues with the unofficial GameCube adapters, while official ones should be working on 19.0.1. I yet to test my official and unoffical GameCube adapter, so I can't tell much about that, sadly.

According to a certain NSP site, some updates require 19.0.
As far as I know, some installers can make certain games work on a lower firmware despite having a higher requirement, to put it simply. Either update your CFW to the latest available or give game installation a try and see if it works on an lower firmware. Both DBI (which I'm personally using) and TinWoo Installer should install the latest titles properly.

Thanks for your reply, but I think I've not explained my problem.
I have a mig V2 and I prefer, for obvious reasons, not to update my dumb using the internet connection via the console.

Any updates and/or DLC that were present on emuMMC but not on sysMMC are missing for your games. Since these are stored either on the console itself or the SD card and not on the cartridge, the console is prompting to redownload them because they aren't being detected on sysMMC.
Ah okay, thank you, in that case is there not really a way to get the DLC for Scarlet or Shield on the emuMMC without buying it on the sysMMC and making sure that the console has the DLC installed fully?

Then you are out of luck as you cannot patch games on the Mig Switch. Either you have to hope that there is a retail cartridge dump of the game you want with the DLC/update pre-patched or go on without it.

You can just pirate it on emuMMC or if you're really religious, dump it from your sysMMC to install it on emuMMC.

Since I have the physical cartridges and wanted to reuse my save files I guess it sounds like I should do something more like the later? I have the DLC for Shield but hadn't tried playing the save on that console, but only bought the DLC for Violet but feel buying the same DLC twice is dumb.

The only reason I don't recommend the latter is that involves using homebrew and CFW which might put you at risk for being banned.

Oh I was going to just do the same thing as what I did with BD of do a local trade to get the pokemon I am after onto my legit console and then move the saves on the sysmmc that have been untouched by the emummc to the console that has no custom firmware.

The only way I know of requires you to have another console, preferably modded, that has the same game you'd like to update on the version you'd like to update to. You can match the game versions locally between two Switches, therefore updating the version on your Switch that uses MIG Switch flashcart without connecting to the Nintendo servers. However before you do that make sure that you have 90DNS set up as you'll need to turn on WiFi in order to initiate local connection with another Switch.

However, there might be a problem: If you're using incomplete dumps and staying offline all the time hoping to evade ban, you're probably just delaying the inevitable. Complete/Full dumps should be fine to update this way, but I'm not sure if the publicly available dumps are safe to use and therefore avoid getting banned. It should be fine to use shared dumps between a small group of people that you share your own dumps with.

So...I apologize in advance if this has been handled, but is there a way to downgrade a modded switch from 19.0 firmware? I wasn't paying attention and updated too far. I can get into Hekate 6.2.2 and access some of DeepSea, but not much beyond the initialization of the programs, then it just shuts down. Any insight would be appreciated.

Judging from your wording, it sounds like you updated OFW, so no it's not possible to downgrade.

I could be wrong, but it might be possible if your fuses haven't been burnt and you have a backup from <=18.1

I'll have to check, but thank you for your insight.

Downgrading firmware is only safe if:
  • You have a clean NAND backup created before you did any hacking on your console,
  • Your console didn't connect to the Nintendo servers after hacking it (it should be fine if you were blocking Nintendo servers via 90DNS).
Clean backup is nice to have in case things go south. If you went online on a stock firmware after you've made a clean backup without blocking Nintendo servers during that time, you'll probably cause a log mismatch between your console's logs and the logs Nintendo have about your console if you restore an older backup. Just keep that in mind.

Unless you have a specific reason to use DeepSea pack, I'd recommend that you switch to manually updating your CFW by using the official repositories. Here's a good guide on how to update your CFW.

From what I can tell, firmware 19.0.1, Atmosphere 1.8.0-pre, Hekate 6.2.2 and sys-patch 1.5.4 work just fine if you're only playing game backups. You'll probably need to recreate your forwarders by using this tool. There were some issues with the unofficial GameCube adapters for the Switch, but I can't tell you anything more about it so, if you're using one, do keep in mind that it might not work on firmware 19.0.0 or 19.0.1.

Hi, Based on the screenshot attached: If I use Custom Firmware (CFW) on my Switch will my game progress and saves transfer over to the stock (unmodified) system? In other words, will changes made in CFW reflect on the stock firmware, or are the two completely independent of each other (i.e., any progress or saves made in CFW won't affect the stock system)?

CFW is just a mode. When you are launching CFW or stock, you are still launching the same console. You might be mistaking CFW for emuMMC which will result in launching a different "console" that exists solely on the SD card.

I have just Modded my Switch lite sucsessfully and have backed up my Sys nand and created the emunand.

When trying to install TINFOIL i get the "could not start the software. Please try again from the home menu.

My current system firmware is 18.1.0 at the time of writing this as was not sure whether i needed to update further.

I have tried using diffrent downloads with supposed sigpaches and copied them over to the root and replaced files multiple times,
however im getting nowhere with this.

If anyone needs any info on my switch for versions of whatever please just ask and if ur able to link me EXACTLY what i need or if i should even format the sd card and start again then
do tell.

Thanks alot in advance.
No one uses that software anymore. I highly recommend switching to TinWoo Installer instead. Its what I personally use and never have any issues while using it. I've even helped other users switch to this homebrew app.
it worked!! thank you sooo much! <3

I need help setting up a switch emulator on my pc (better graphics). I own a switch and the games, however i just want to download the emulator and the keys/firmware from the internet to save time and i don't want to modify my switch (seems complicated and time consuming). For the prod.keys and title.keys I found a website called prodkeys, is it safe and the place where people get theirs from? also should i get the latest firmware and yuzu?

    Hi,

You won't get an official response from Microsoft on these forums. You're better off writing to them.
