I assumed that ALL Splatoon bundles came with firmware <3.0.0 so when I saw this listed as "New", I bought it. When I received the Switch and checked the firmware, it was 4.1.0. While I do not think this is one of those new Mariko units, could it possibly be?? Is there any possible way to determine if this Switch was previously used and updated so that I, and the community, knows it's NOT a Mariko unit Switch? I noticed that there was an "Error History", if that helps. A brand new Switch wouldn't have an "Error History" would it?

If you're on 4.1 you're fine, Mariko units aren't even out yet as far as we know. All firmwares up to 5.0.2 are hackable.

I was consider to buy Switch today but I changed my mind to wait for 1-2 years to replace my 3DS, so is it bad idea? I believe that all Switch motherboard revision will be hacked eventually in different way like Wii did?

What about hardmod and soldering?

I accidentally updated my 3DS to 11.0 before I got acknowledge, so I paid someone to downgrade via hardmod and soldering, so is it possible for Switch with motherboard revision to be hardmodded and soldered?

Should I go to Walmart to grab one soon or buy from Ebay? Please message me for link to Ebay website - I prefer North America version.

I bought it today and it looks like I got non-revision based on firmware.

At first, I was anxious about end up with revised Switch and relieved after found that firmware is lower - just power + volume up and down combined to check.

Compare the serial to the infographic and ranges on the OP. You got shivved - that firmware only comes with 2.3.0 and 3.0.0, obviously someone updated the console

It does seems like someone updated the Switch, use factory reset, pack in and return to seller, or seller may did that. Switch doesn’t have seal sticker to indicate if package is opened or not.
