I understand why I shouldn’t talk about this but none the less should I buy the switch 2 now even tho a mod chip is coming out when their ready… or am I allow to wait for restock it’s cause I think Nintendo would obviously have the opportunity to change the hardware in the coming months honestly I want your guys opinions…tell me should I..?

Buy that crystal ball first, get your diploma in fortune telling, level up your clairvoyance skills.. Then you tell us!

It’s always better to have the earliest hardware revision possible, but there’s no guarantee an exploit will ever be found even on lower revisions. On the switch 1 we had an unpatchable hardware issue in the first generation of the hardware, but this really was a fluke (and the fault of NVIDIA, not Nintendo). In my opinion the chance for the same thing to happen again are very low, but still higher on the launch units than in later revisions.

I think there are really only two ways to go about this: either you buy a switch 2 now and leave it in the box until a softmod comes out (if one ever does come out), or a mod chip; or you buy a switch 2, update it and play with it, just making sure to put it in flight mode before putting it on the shelf if you ever get tired of it, so if a softmod does come along, your firmware stays as low as possible.

This is speculative. If you want the best chance buy it now and leave it alone until more news. That's always been the best way to tackle modifying consoles.

No one knows how long it will take. I'm personally using mine and keeping it on the first available update in case the exploit lies there. It's hard to imagine that Nintendo would leave such a hardware oversight in their console again after last time.

Anyway, if you want to get the answer yourself could start developing mods and hacks, then you don't need to ask 😁

You need to wait. We have nothing except the Mig Switch (not quite a mod... I know). For the Switch 2 mod, you will wait a little bit longer. I don't think a mod right now, even if it exists behind doors, will be good for us if it is publicly disclosed. We need games, a ton a games and third-party ports. For me, the best time for that, is after 2 years.... But that's me....

is it possible to actually use the switch2 to play online and avoid any updates whatsoever?

You will have to update to the newest version to play online. You can not update but you will have to play offline to stay at that version

Ok so thats why there are people out there that have purchased a new switch 2 but left it boxed up waiting for a mod to be released one day…. Makes sense now
