i will still always have my trusty r4 original with wood firmware to back me up. My r4 still runs perfectly to this day!

I've had my N5 for two years now and it still works, I'm pretty sure it will last at least two years and by then the next gen flashcart will have come out

I'm pretty sure the dstwo will last longer than the hypothesis on this thread..as long as you take care of it, it will be awhile before anything happens to it
all these guess on the lifespan is opinion based and nothing more

If it makes any of you feel better. I bought the iPlayer when it was first released (which is like 1 year and a few months ago now) and have been using it nonstop (till I got the DSTWO atleast, which was like 2 weeks ago).
GBA, tv Series, anime, movies.. you name it. Pretty much every day and it's still working fine.

Thing is, CPU is enclosed in DS2 without any means to dissipate heat. So all the heat is trapped inside DS2. In the long run heat definitely is going to influence lifespan.

Without fan and heatsink, any PC CPU would've died within 5 minutes.

Um, only on newer computers. Computers from the early 90s had no heatsinks - they didn't need them.

That's true. Modern PC CPU emits a lot of heat, unlike early 90s.

Yes, I know what you're saying...but those also generate way way WAY more heat than the DSTwo does. If the DSTwo generated as much heat as those you'd probably burn a hole in your pocket (I'm only half kidding here).

I've had mine since the pre-order phase (late May) so that makes it around 5 months and some now. I'd be willing to bet at least a couple of years or more.

Though by then I'd be hoping to have a 3DS and maybe? a flashcart. *chuckles*

If it lasts a year, that'd be fine for me. I mean, it's only 35 bucks. That's one game. No big deal.

As long as it didn't ruin my mem card. I don't want my saves getting erased, or anything. Even though I do back it up every month-ish, if it broke it at the end of the month and I hadn't rebacked up, then I'd be a sad panda.

I've had my DSTWO since they first came out and it's still kicking like new.. That might help
