Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Mod's
- How to inject existing Mod's into SSBU tutorial done!
- early "how to create a Mod for SSBU tutorial" (for advanced user)

Required:

First

Download and extract the modinstall.py, move the "modinstall.py" and also the ".nutexb" (your mod) into the romfs folder from the extracted nca.
(the whole thing can be done later on further modifications directly on the SD card with the same structure)

files.png

Type in the Window-Path of the folder the command
Code:
cmd

cmd.png

and press [Enter]

A command window promt on

cmd-window.png

Type following command into the command window (for example i take the 0x0x112c9b968.nutexb file name, you have to take the name of your mod)
Code:
python modinstall.py 0x112c9b968.nutexb

cmd-window-command.png

and press [Enter]

injection.png

Note: all my mod's will be coming directy with the correct name (name = file offset) it is required the mod file has be this name because, the modinstall.py take this name to set the file into the right place into the data.arc file!) I can't promise things, for mods from others!

Injection is done!

Last step

Create a folder with the name
01006A800016E000
into

- for Kosmos
atmosphere/titles
- for SXOS
sxos/titles
- for ReiNX
idk, never use ReiNX (xxxx/titles)

on your SD-Card

title-folder.png

Now you have to copy all files (exefs and romfs folder) to the "01006A800016E000" folder on your SD-Card

Done!

Take the SD-Card back into your Switch, start your CFW with LayeredFS and have fun.

Note: if anything went wrong and an error appears or you get an boot-loop in the game, the modinstall.py has created a backup of the original file. Delete the mod file

delete-mod.png

and rename the backup file from
.nutexb.backup

backup.png

to

renamed.png

and inject the file again with the same process into the data.arc.

In the next few days I will write a detailed tutorial on how to make modifications for SSBU.
At the moment it is still very difficult to make modifications for SSBU. But it's possible!
So, I'll do my best to write this guide very detailed, how it's going to make modifications. So that the development of SSBU modifications go faster.

In addition, there will be a pre-release of Shiny MewTwo on my discord in the next few days

A big thank you goes out to jam1garner and KillsXGaming. For helping and developing programs and scripts!

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

  • Veho @ Veho:
    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

  • Veho @ Veho:
Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

I have yaoi anime hands, very lorge but slender.

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    but that's a long shot
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

    lmao
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
