Looking at those symptoms and the fix, this describes completely a problem I have with my NTSC-U copy of MLB Power Pros on my 1.9b Wiikeyed PAL 3.1E Wii.

I'm pretty sure Power Pros is not dual layer, and it was dumped. I'm not sure if this means anything for Brawl or if it has anything in common, but I have had this problem and the game most certainly works.

Just to clarify for those that cannot read japanese

The flier states that you MAY have issues with the game
not being recognised by your Wii

If that happens
Either turn off the console or hold down the power button
Press eject to eject the disc and reinsert the SSBB disc

The game will then start as normal

Its actually quite understandable from just the images
- but that's the literal translation -
or there abouts - my japanese is not perfect

I can find no evidence of the flier stating anything about
copy protection - I guess Nintendo don't want people to
freak out too much!...

I don't know is that has been said (way too much smash bros posts) before but nintendo actually had a euro/australia release date on their site. It was 01/06/08 but it was removed very quickly.

People people! We're eating each other alive here! We've got to come together to overcome our common enemy: The Subspace Emmisary. Err, I mean the DVD9 dumping problem.

So far around the internet people have been calling this game Melee 1.5
frown.gif

Wasn't the big impact like we all thought it would be, overhyped like Halo 3. Ill still have lots of fun with the game though, but it could have been better.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
