I haven't seen anything about this anywhere on the internet. Maybe I'm just searching wrong but I just reverse engendered somones level to figure out that you can turn off the music in any level by attaching a certain sound effect to Mario, himself. Just wanted to see if anyone else knew about this. I've never seen it used before until now. It's kind of neat and gives the levels a very errie and sometimes dull feel.
