You know, it just popped in my mind, that Nintendo can make a Super Mario Galaxy DS on the Super Mario 64 DS engine, with added input for the spin attack (button or stylus) and the other types of movement )mostly the pointing stuff).

Nintendo can make everything.

It's just a question of money and business strategies

Why question something that has already happened? Mario Galaxy is for the DS already:

I kid of course. This was just an elaborate hoax made by a darn dedicated 3D animation pro. But boy did it get everyone's hopes up! XD

In all seriousness, I'm not sure whether Mario Galaxy could be done on DS. I've seen some amazing 3D games on DS though. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Phantasy Star 0, Mario Hoops, and countless others. Most of the 3D parts would be replaced with sprites I imagine. And I'm not sure how difficult it would be to program the planet physics. I DO think perhaps Mario Sunshine could be cut down to fit on DS, not sure about Galaxy.

I think Nintendo should port sunshine to the ds. I loved the game

but galaxy would be quite hard; different kind of gravity and it's an huge game, so I
don't think it will happen (soon)

The thing that makes Sunshine more viable is that it's basically Mario 64 with some first person shooter elements thrown into the mix. We can control the game like we normally would and then use the stylus OR Dpad to be more precise when aiming the FLUDD nozzle. The physics are pretty basic in the game mostly. I think it could easily be on DS if they were to try.

And another semi-Mario Gamecube port I'd like would be Luigi's Mansion. I could see some stylus control working in that (with regular control as an option of course). Renegade Kid recently did an interview with IGN and said that they themselves believed the game could be ported pretty perfectly to the DS. Shocking to me, but they'd know what the DS can handle since they made Dementium.

Overall, I'd just like to see more 3D games on DS. It started out shakey with control issues in Mario 64 and Rayman DS, but they've since improved those. Crash of the Titans and the new Kingdom Hearts DS game proves that you can make a solid 3D DS game. I think I'd like to see some more.

I think that the DS is chalked full of ports enough as it is.

I love most of em, CHrono Trigger being tops.

Galaxy or Sunshine? I just want a new Mario game, preferably non 3d platformer. Mario shines best side scroll style.

+1 At this point it isn't necessary to make a new Mario platformer for DS with NSMB selling like hot cakes years later. Its on top ten titles sold every month it seems. I would prefer a Mario game on DS to stick to 2D. Leave 3D to the consoles.

Why can't we have another sidescroller? NSMB did amazing, so I don't see why Nintendo wouldn't release another...
Personally, it was ridiculously easy, and far too short. If it was at least much more difficult, I would've enjoyed it. I still liked it, but only due to Nostalgia.

I beat New Super Mario Bros within 3-4 hours without any trouble. It was too easy and too short. I DID love it while it lasted, but I'd much rather have a beefy game like Mario 64 DS that will last me a while.

And in regards to Mario being better in sidescrolling, not true. He has proven that he has equally awesome games in both 2D and 3D. His best 2D games were Mario 3 and Mario World, his best 3D were Mario 64 and Mario Galaxy. All of those are stellar games. I am all for having both 2D AND 3D Mario games until the end of time. So far though, the DS has a decided lack of 3D platformers and I'd like to see more companies take a crack at them. The better ones are generally unknown or underrated.

And for the record, there were rumors a while back that Nintendo was working on New Super Mario Bros 2 for DS and it would be full 3D. Not likely true, but it would be really neat to have a brand new DS exclusive 3D Mario game!

It should also be noted that this topic was more speculatory than realistic. The TP just asked if Mario Galaxy COULD be made on DS. More of a theoretical query in regards to the DS' power.

if people with 3d aspects and people with 2d aspects can't be agreed with each other sometimes
then why don't they make another Paper Mario ?
those are fun

Oh my, that video is really good.

Anyways, a port would be really nice. I really liked the Wii version.

If you think that is good check his other video out.

Paper Mario DS? Fuck yeah.

That's what my vote goes for anyway, Paper Mario series was the best of all Mario games.
