..Lol, indeed he is.

Graphics are looking great btw. And I'm so glad all the text we worked hard on is being used ;] To anyone wondering, we won't be continuing with our patch anymore, but I've kept the thread open just in case anyone wants to use it.

He's stopping his project because he's passed on all of their work to this project.

LOL at the Darth is the fairy godmother of ROM hacking.

EDIT:
Just fixed the alignment issue with the intro text that scrolls at the beginning of the game. Before, it was pushed to the right side of the screen and some text wasn't aligned with the rest of its sentence. It now utilizes the entire screen and is aligned properly.

Thanks Suruz for your work on translating. I really enjoyed the game.
Good luck to neoxephon on translating.
I love this game!

He's kinda like santa claus, dropping down everyone's chimney leaving nice big presents for them.
I prefer imagining him in a silly-frilly dress with a magical wand and lots of fairy glitter tho..... uhm, hopefully darth won't kill me now.

it's even more disturbing considering his avatar...a majin coming into my house to take my teeth from underneath my pillow...*shiver*

Because this is a semi-open translation, I thought I'd post this here for anyone currently working on translating and anyone that is potentially interested.

The entire script has been added to Google Docs and I have pasted over the work that suruz and crew did. Anyone with current access should see the spreadsheet. And a warning, the spreadsheet is quite large.

We desperately need someone who is willing to work on the translation portion of this project.

I'm going to be blunt and I'm sorry if this comes off as rude to those who worked on SNX before us, but the current translations that came from them are going to need to be scrapped. The translator that worked on these took a lot of liberties. Translating "Take heavy damage!" to "You might be screwed!" is not really ideal. Believe me when I say that the translations are riddled with tons of these kinds of changes.

Please contact me if you're interested (and can properly translate Japanese), so that we can properly translate this game. Otherwise, progress is going to continue to be stalled.

My translators put a lot of hard work into that translation, so your comments did come across as a little rude.

To be fair, you'd be worse off if we hadn't given you anything at all. We had no obligation to give you all of our translation, which we spent quite a bit of time on :/

Anyway, good luck and hopefully you'll find some more translators who are interested.

Sadly that’s the way it goes, suruz. Some translators, fans and companies prefer games that have different levels of linguistic adaptation. If I were to make a quick list (I like making lists, humour me) :

(More weird)
- Westernized
- Localized
- Translated
- Transliterated
- Romanized
(More confusing)

Your translation seems to have been somewhere on the upper side of Localized, hitting Westernized. Their translation seems to want to be somewhere closer to the Middle-Upper side of Translated. I for one would never in my life put a ‘-san’ or ‘oniichan’ in any translation I did. Many anime and manga groups feel very differently. Having a conflict of interest does not make the translations bad. They might still be considered unusable for the new group though.

Putting in references to movies such as Ghost Busters into a JRPG, when not originally intended to be that way, is called putting whatever you want because it sounds good and not a localization.

@suruz: Regardless of whether or not it came off rude or the amount of time that was put into it, when DarthNemesis goes through your translations and points out, one after another instances where the translations are morphed into whatever the person translating wanted I for one do not ignore it.

I didn’t catch the ghostbusters references.
There's a mission ??????? ("Don't get possessed!") that was translated as "Who Ya Gonna Call!", loose localization like that. I can see the reasoning for it - the mission names are mostly straightforward reiterations of their descriptions, so it adds flavor without obscuring the conditions - but CN wants to stay faithful to the original meaning and not take artistic liberties.
