What are some things you did when you started using you VR set?
The first time I did it, I was trying the oculus demo, and tried putting both controllers on a in-game table at the same time. That didn’t end well

The first game I played was Super Hot (I think it’s one of the best so far).

I was hiding behind a pool table and in the real world I was kneeling on my floor, well I lost my balance and I grabbed for the pool table (in the VR World) thinking that would keep me from falling.... NOPE, I fell right on my face!! :rofl2::rofl:

Nothing too crazy like destroying a TV or a cat. I did try to sit in a virtual chair, and I bumped my headset on the floor when trying to look through a hole in a vent in the Budget Cuts demo, but I'm pretty sure it's designed to make you do that.

Was trying out Pierhead Arcade on my WMR headset (which, btw, doesn't work for this particular game :() and I whacked one of my controllers into my somewhat low ceiling. It's just low enough where I can only just brush against it while stretching out, so I figured it wouldn't be a problem, but that little bit of extra length you get from the WMR controllers was enough to hit the ceiling when I tried throwing some stuff. Didn't damage the controllers or anything, but it made me a lot more careful in terms of physical space

I did nothing wrong, the worse I did was trying to touch object I saw (like the ball in vr world level select).
I play while siting, and there's nothing around me to mess with.

One of the things I "wanna do" is look up virtual skirts, gotta know how detailed they are underneath you know? (͠≖ ͜ʖ͠≖)

Never tripped or anything.
What does happen from time to time is that I hit the headset with a controller during beatsaber.

Hit objects with the controller with beat saber. Luckily I have the rift so it protects me from breaking my hand.

Ended up creeping forwards slowly when playing Beat Saber while facing my computer desk, eventually resulting in my controller colliding with either the desk or the back of my chair at high speed. Ow.
Still happens occasionally today but nowhere near as much.

Nothing, really. Mind you, I only tried it once at a family meeting where half the family (including me) wanted to try it out and the other half wanted to laugh at the one wearing it :glare:. Result: everyone but me just "played" a 20 minute underwater demo where you're being submerged into deep sea and can just look around. I played the closest thing to a skiing game: some sort of sleigh game on a road where leaning left or right steers left or right a bit. Despite all the snickering and family talk in my ears it was enough to immerse myself enough to get motion sickness.

I've heard that before that (when that PS4 VR unit was new), my aunt-in-law tried that underwater level and apparently screamed her lungs out the moment she saw a fish swimming by. Not the sharks later in that level, mind you: the aquarium-like fish.

Result: VR isn't exactly a head start in the family. And while certainly leaps and bounds above what I tried in the late 90's (a doom 2 simulator!), I'll probably wait for a wireless model to come around.

Both the Vive and Vive Pro have wireless modules available now, kinda pricey as is to be expected. The Pimax 5K+ and 8K also have a wireless module coming.

Oh, and funny enough: there's actually a mod to play Doom/Doom 2/Hexen/Heretic and any of their mods on modern VR headsets. I haven't given it a try yet, but it does look fun. :D
