Hi guys,

Hoping to update my ps3 to the newest CFW and nothing seems to work.System information only says i am on 4.46 (doesn't say what cfw i am running ) and multiman also does not give any futher information (say 4.46 bd-rom emulation - no other information )

The problem i am having is that trying to update gives me the error code 80029c78 , i have tried multiple usb's , tried updating in safe mode and tried multiple CFW.PUPS so im really out of solutions

Is there something i could of messed around with that might be stopping this as i know i played around with it in the past.

I may be stuck on this CFW forever.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Dan

What if you downgrade it first again to 3.55?

What if you downgrade it first again to 3.55?

Yup, this ^

Downgrade to 3.55 OFW first via recovery menu and start from the very beginning.

Make sure there is no PS3 disc in your disc-drive at all during firmware installation (downgrade and upgrade)

Hi guys,

Thanks for the help.

When i try to downgrade in Recovery mode using the supplied PUP i get " A serious error has occurred"
8002F2F0

This happens as soon as i press update.

Thanks

Also if it helps, i tried putting a new hard drive in and it comes up with "a serious error has occurred 8002F2F0 " as soon as it loads up.

Also tried rebuilding file system

Im not too knowledgeable in the Ps3 scene so im not sure about this, but cant you just flash back a firmware or your own dump with a flasher?

With QA Flag it install correctly but when launching i get the error code 80010017

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Might try replacing the PRAM battery as the clock needs to be set on every restart. Could this be the issues?

Nope just replaced battery same error codes

Are there any setting that could of been changed that would block all updates from happening

have you tried putting a 4.46 cfw on a fresh hard drive.. try something different than rebug

then try upgrading that
