What region is your ofw 3ds and what country is it set to.

Make sure the country is set to USA if you're in the NA region.

And search "steel diver" in the search bar.

You can also do this fresh new thing:
https://3ds.eiphax.tech/fredminer.html
It doesn't need steel diver at all, just a free dsiware game (or any dsiware really).

damn bro you just saved my ass from a heart attack!

looks like the previous owner just blew through that as everything was set to to the first option starting with "A"

and thanks for the "fresh new" option. definitely will keep that as a backup.

No, you should not delete everything on your SD. Just do what the guide tells you to do. There is a part that removes not needed files from the SD (Section VII Cleanup SD Card).

Although your 3DS technically stays fully operational when wiping the SD after completing the guide, this does not make sense.

Deleting the SD:/3DS folder removes all your .3dsx homebrew apps.
Deleting the SD:/Nintendo 3DS folder also removes your installed games (and saves) as well as installed homebrew CIAs like Anemone, FBI,…
This implies it is a good idea to backup the content of your SD from time to time (SDs may corrupt or fail without warning for no apparent reason). It is advisable to backup saves and extdata in decrypted form with Checkpoint and/or JKSM.

okay i wont delete anything after the cleanup. just finished the tutorial.

but in theory, i should be fine deleting everything except Nintendo 3DS folder because it contains my installed CIAs etc. right? i use Gm9 often to convert 3ds to CIA, so i'd definitely keep that. but if i deleted it, would it recreate itself? or would i not be able to boot into GM9 without Godmode9.firm?

just to clarify, these are just questions, im not gonna delete anything :P

Hi @All,

sorry to jump into this but I did exactly the same only yesterday and have same questions
3DS noob alert! - brand new 2DS XL, used 3ds guide.com and did Section VII Cleanup SD Card (which cleared cia's I had installed) however there is no indication to clear anything off from between the boot9strap / steelhax page over to the finalizing setup page?

I have attached my SD root files - do I still need frogcert.bin, movable.sed, steelhax folder?
Do i need to keep steel diver installed or frogminer app in hb launcher?

and also, is it ok to keep my wifi connection to the 2DS? (will it try a stealth update like switch)

thanks for any help

If you followed the complete guide line by line, Luma's boot.firm and the Luma folder with the GodMode9.firm payload is on your NAND ⟹You can shoot your SD to the moon and the 3DS will still boot and have access to GodMode9. But Luma can't restore deleted payloads (like GodMode) from nowhere.

@fatherjack From the Frogminer thread:
Did this successfully on my New 3DS XL running 11.8!
I have 2 questions:
1) Can I remove the "steelhax" and "private" folders on the root of my sd card?
2) Can I unfriend the friend that I was asked to add at bruteforcemovable dot com?
Thanks in advance!
yes and yes
And uninstalling Steel Diver: Sub Wars is no problem (unless you actually want to play that thing, in this case reset the save data with JKSM). All these questions about online. Okay: Don't do stupid things like cheating online or playing leaked games before official release and a ban is very unlikely. You can use a modded 2/3DS online like an unmodded and update normally with System Settings.

From what I know movable.sed, frogcert.bin and the Frogminer app are not needed anymore if every thing is done. But keeping at least a copy of frogcert.bin on your computer is surely not bad in case you want to hack another console (no need to use torrent again).

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
