Stardew Valley multiplayer patch coming early 2018

The breakout hit indie game based upon the Harvest Moon series, Stardew Valley, will finally be getting the long-awaited multiplayer patch early next year. Developer Chucklefish has been helping the lone dev of Stardew, with the process of rewriting over 15,000 lines of code in order to allow for multiplayer to be added to the game. When the multiplayer patch goes live next year, up to four players will be able to play simultaneously with each other, and farm, fish, and even marry NPCs. Player characters will even be able to marry each other, through a new "woo-ing" system that hasn't been fully realized yet. They'll even get their own cabin on the farm, and inventory slots. However, major choices in the game will only be controlled by the main player. Steam/PC users will have the chance to take part in beta testing for the patch this winter as well. Presumably, a console multiplayer patch is planned sometime shortly after the PC release.

Cool. But 15.000 lines of code aren't that much.
I'm pumped for the Switch Version with Multiplayer.
lol, he's right. as a guy who's dabbled in programming, i know how many lines of code basic things can actually take. an incredibly simple program can take a thousand lines.

Finally!!! I've been waiting for this announcement for a while now! Me and my friend can finally play together :p

hmm, could it have cross platform between the current platforms? would love to play between my switch and pc versions though I don't know anybody with a xb1(ha XD)....sorry sony users, your not part of this as long as mother sony tells you what's safe to do out on the Internet, even old father nintendo is more open then sony allowing cross platform, fuck you sony for locking me off from my friends who normally play on ps4 -.-

So, erm...am I the only one who really wasn't thinking about this game in any multiplayer setting whatsoever? I had no idea this was even anticipated by someone in the first place.
Lol, I read "woo-ing" as "woohooing" as I skimmed through the page.
I had an even more bizarre reading incident there. Not being too familiar with English, I thought that "woo" meant something in the area of sadness or sorrow, which...is pretty bizarre (I mean...I'm not the biggest fan of marriage, but it's pretty weird to read something akin to "yeah, you'll be able to marry someone in this game but we still need to realize a way to regret it" :P. It was only by looking it up that what I was thinking about was "woe", and that "woo" meant courting or romancing someone. And I'm not sure if that is THAT much of an improvement, really... :rofl2:

<sometime in the stardew valley future>
"hey, baby...have I told you how much I adore you milking those cows lately?"
"hey, you wanna...plant some seeds together?"
"check out my crops, baby. Best ones in the valley!"
"can I interest you in some semen? What do you mean "not until we're married"?"

You're not wrong, but if you've done programming, you should also know a single line of code can take hours of work, so a linecount doesn't really mean anything at all.

well, i've never had it take hours for one line, but certainly hours to make a tiny few line block. iv never made anything that required that level of work to do. so, yeah. line count really doesnt mean anything and really shouldnt be used to determine how much work has been done.

@Taleweaver When the game was announced for the Nintendo Switch, one feature it advertised was multiplayer. So this was an announcement basically for what been known but for other platforms now too.
