nice , so when setting up redNAND USB will be untouched yes? i have like 10 dumps installed onto the USB HDD of mine, and mate when setting up the redNAND the saves will be untouched yeah?

wouldnt wanna lose progress!

and about redNAND, is it going to be a permanent thing , or will we have to launch the browser to boot into redNAND, and what are the pros of the redNAND over sysNAND, it will allow DLC loading etc.?

lastly, when we boot into redNAND will the USB dumps still show up fine ? what if you have a few of the dumps in a folder in sysNAND ,will they still show up in redNAND?
1. If you do not format sysNAND, then yes. USB will not be touched, and all your backups will be playable on redNAND.

2. It might become a permanent thing later. For now, you will have to use browserhax.

3. Right now yes. However, one you start installing games to redNAND or sysNAND, games will appear on the other NAND, but they won't launch due to it missing tickets on that NAND. So, decide what NAND you will be mainly using to play games :p

but what if we don't have the external hdd connected and format sysnand and then connect the external hdd only when we boot into rednand?
Unfortunately, the Wii U will not detect the HDD. You will have to reformat the drive. This is why I recommend backing up your saves with something like Saviine before formatting sysNAND.

so you mean a coldboot? does exist a hack a way for do it now? (for developer not for a usere I don't think so?
Privately? :P Well, I know Smealum and Team SALT have one.
As for others, I don't know.

sdio_nand_extractor.exe not working,
rednand on console booting ok.
Run the program with admin rights.

@Goloki and @nitrostemp, I apologize for the other thread the other day ( the one that's now closed ). The post about his/her/their. The thing is I have always seen it spoken like "his or her" and written as his/her ( which is actually as good a form as the one that, yes, I didn't know about: their ). Their in that use still sounds weird to me though ( or may be too formal ), but that means nothing, of course.

Guys how do I dump the fw.img from Dimoks iosu hax folder? the pastebin guide does not really help. Is it the same fw.img from his guide in homebrew that you can do with jnustools or is it diffeent?

Here's a guide.
THIS MAY BRICK YOUR WII U PERMANENTLY! OKAY? THE ODDS ARE LOW BUT DON'T COME CRYING TO ME IF IT BRICKS.

Aight, so dimok's dumper was released along with a sigpatched emunand and a computer tool for dumping and injecting nand to/from sd card.

Here's a guide on how to setup the redNAND and use the injector/dumper.

PLEASE FOLLOW THESE IN ORDER, AND ONLY DO THE DUMPING TO PC STEP FOR YOUR OS.

Requirements :
  • 64GB SD for 32GB Wii U's, and 16GB SD for 8GB Wii U's.
  • Patience
  • A Windows computer for dumping/injecting nand to sd. This isn't required for setting up redNAND.
  • The ability to compile iosuhax.
The Holy Guide :
  • Compile this, https://github.com/dimok789/iosuhax. Here's a guide.
  • Download this and copy the wiiu folder onto the root of your sd card, grab the fw.img you got from compiling dimok's iosuhax and place it on your sd card.
  • Download this and place the apps folder inside of your wiiu directory on the root of your sd card.
  • Copy everything from your sd card to somewhere and continue
  • Boot up your Wii U insert your sd and load up loadiine.ovh, then load up the homebrew launcher from there.
  • Choose cfw booter and then go to your Wii U console and just tap the power button (You cannot hit the gamepad power button) it'll format your sd card and dump your nand to it, be patient.
  • Copy all the files back to your SD card, you should've backed them up.
  • Load up the homebrew launcher from loadiine.ovh again and run cfw booter once again, if everything went well you'll boot into redNAND.
  • Whenever you want to boot redNAND you'll have to follow follow this step ^.
Installing system config tool :

MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THIS IN REDNAND, YOU'LL BRICK IF YOU DON'T AND I'LL LAUGH AT YOU ;).
  • Find my pastebin, pastebin.com/u/myusername is a hint, download sysconfigtool from there.
  • Create a folder named install on the root of your sd card and copy the contents of sysconfigtool into it.
  • Download this and copy the stuff from the meta folder into sdroot/wiiu/apps/wupinstaller if you don't have this directory create it, then copy over wupinstaller.elf from the archive.
  • Boot up your redNAND and run the homebrew launcher.
  • Choose wupinstaller and then hit "A". It'll install.
How to dump your redNAND from SD to computer (Windows)
  • Power off your Wii U and take out the sd card, download this and then grab the .exe and put it somewhere. Edit the dumping path and select your sd cards path. Then dump to somewhere safe, make sure you dump slc slccmpt and mlc. Keep these safe.
How to dump your redNAND from SD to computer (Linux & macOS)
  • use dd, google it.

Guys, about unlinking sysNAND and redNAND, can't we just format redNAND after we have gone through the whole process ? some are talking about formating sysNAND but that's a bit unconvinient. Won't formating redNAND do the trick ? Thanks in advance.

Oh :( Ok. I'll need to format sysNAND then. I guess I will need to download all my purchased things again ( to redNAND ). At least we can do that by now, until a new system update arrives.
You don't have to format sysNAND. So far, we don't know if there's actually any benefits to formatting sysNAND.

I picked some text pieces from the guide and looked it up in google, a really slow chinese site appeared that had a "copy" of the guide and the links to the images; going through the whole process right now and it's working fine.

Hmmm... it will probably be like on 3DS, but you are right.

Bricking your redNAND seems just as inconvenient lol. Dont go formatting your redNAND.
