As part of an otherwise unremarkable summary of their sales results for the first quarter 2010 and their plans for the second quarter, Ubisoft has let slip that Assassin's Creed II and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction are to be released on Mac during the second quarter -- so sometime between July and September.

Splinter Cell Conviction is perhaps the most surprising (after all, it was famously revealed as a Xbox 360 exclusive) but Assassin's Creed II is notably listed as being released in the EMEA region specifically -- Europe, Middle East and Africa -- meaning that North American Mac users may be out of luck if they wish to experience the story of Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Big question is if they'll have the same DRM as they did on the PC, if that's still the big thing everyone's talking about.

Most people are playing games on windows. Gamers with a mac are having a dual boot most of the time

True that.

The lack of game development for OS X along with the crappy porting efforts and the shitstorm that is OpenGL make most Mac games either unavailable or just plain crap. I've resorted to dual-booting just to play games.

Though some games are greatly ported. BioShock was recoded from the ground up for Macs, and it came out beautifully, only with a slightly lower performance (due to OpenGL's ineptitude against DirectX).

Ubisoft, if you care, please don't Cider it.
