You can use it online, because when you enter on a match with 02 has id, automatically changes you into inkling girl and there is no problem anymore with this.

Where did you get this info? I've been using this the whole time, and was the person first noticing that you can't join matches as an octoling anymore.

In the OP it says if I did it offline (when I did), it's fine. I maxed out my level to 50, but haven't gone online since.

I did it by accident yesterday. I believe I did it by replacing my equipped item with something else. Again, I'm not 100% sure how I did it because it was an accident.
