It might not matter if they have a walking animation. A lot of the models are so similar that it might work universally. I'm not sure about wolves and crocodiles since their jaw moves...

To change their dialogue, you need a rom hack

I doubt it. You need the ROM to change villager data so I'm guessing you'd need the ROM for custom villagers (to add models, house, furniture, etc). If that was possible, I bet we would have heard about it by now. It would be nice...

It should be possible to swap models and some other data that is already loaded in RAM.
So even if it's possible it's temporary and incomplete.

would crash my game? I don't think you can have two waterfalls going into the ocean like that...but they seem to have no problems with it...
