I feel like its moving to be a bunch of features that are getting mixed up in a cluster, Lots of key combos make it confusing and hard to remember. If I recall there is a CTRBoot feature built in with an option for 6 different Firmware.bin and built in Decrypt9 it doesn't feel like its a Minimal CFW but littered with some useless features.

It's a arm9select feature, not CTRBoot and its totally optional and it doesn't really consume space. I'm sure that AuReiNand is not a minimal CFW anymore, Aurora took her own path and she chosen the path of a Noob-proof CFW (I think she have to change her CFW name because of that)
Anyway, I love all 3 major CFWs, each one I use for a reason, and the CFW devs are awesome, but each one chose one path to follow -> customizable (CakesFW), minimalist and noob-proof (AuReiNand)

I meant it in a "right now" way though so the first two aren't differences.
I honestly forgot about Dual SD-Nand & 10.4 Support though.
you're right on the other two, but I just don't see the reason behind needing a 9.0 Firm/9.2 Nand other than Gateway though
its for booting into Sysnand with sig patches kinda like pasta

Major differences between AuRei and Rei:
* Built-in boot manager
* "Updated sysNAND" mode, which protects FIRM0/FIRM1, where A9LH is kept, so you can use sysNAND as the main NAND. IMO it would be nice to implement that on ReiNAND.
*Dual emu/redNANDs.
*FIRM 9.0 support for sysNAND or first emuNAND on 9.2
Differences between Red and emuNAND:
*RedNAND is sightly faster than emuNAND.
*RedNAND is smaller than emuNAND in some systems like the n3DS.

@matpower, AuReiNand has some cool and some uneeded features

COOL: FIRM0/FIRM1 protection (Genius)
UNEEDED: Dual emuNAND/redNANDs, built in boot manager (arm9select is still superior and works with all CFW), updated sysNAND (yeah you don't need emuNAND but it works and I feel no need to mess with a good thing)

Not sure about the FIRM 9.0 support for sysNAND (haven't tested but all I use is Gateway so I'll reserve judgement on that)

@Aurora Wright has done a phenomenal job on AuReiNand but all the extra boot features and such I feel like @Reisyukaku said is moving away from minimalistic and into RXTools territory.

I will follow AuReiNand but if ReiNand works with the features it already has and @Reisyukaku adds FIRM0/FIRM1 protection I feel I will choose ReiNand as there is less patching to potentially cause problems.

oh ty, i think my definitive cfw will be AuRei when Aurora put the region free in a few days

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

btw cakes is worth it? i never test it what can i do with it that i cant do with aurei?

Nah, Cakes isn't that great to be honest. If you mainly use emuNAND, stay with ReiNAND.
If you really want to use AuReiNAND though, use this file: -snip- (PM me for it instead)
It's the firmware file patched with the loader, it should make it region free.

As someone with an Old 3DS, Updated sysNAND is great because it avoids the hassle of installing GBA VCs twice, also "Updated sysNAND" is FIRM0/FIRM1 patching :P So if you have one, you have the other.
Also I guess dual emuNANDs aren't as useful anymore since 3DS_injector can change regions and load SecureInfo_A on-the-go, but it still is nifty if you want to bypass the 300 titles limit or if you want a different region NAND.

"Updated sysNAND" is FIRM0/FIRM1 patching :P
He said protection fwiw.
I might switch back to this if that's implemented. I basically want my CFW to be as invisible as can be. Minimal boot time, safety if updated, but with some nice features, like being able to region swap, and of course sig patches

If you really want to use AuReiNAND though, use this file: *link*

I think that's illegal to share. Better take down the link.

i use AuRei and have RF atm but my gba games stop to work i think is for use a modified home menu (you know that modded home menu to make RF AuRei that you can download in that iso site)

Edit i removed the link too dont want troubles xD

@matpower, just tested GBA VC from ReiNand 9.2.0-20U sysNAND (launched by holding start) and it worked. So no need to install to emuNAND on ReiNand as well. FIRM0/FIRM1 protection is a plus but I think Rei said it will be added to ReiNand (just makes sense and kudos to @Aurora Wright for it's implementation). The only boot method to remember that I am aware of is holding start to enter sysNAND. Not so much an argument as to which one is better or has more features as simplistic and minimalistic. Without the loader AuReiNand would pretty much be ReiNand with FIRM0/FIRM1 protection.

Well, I used that setup before (GBA/DSi stuff only on sysNAND) but it's a bit of hassle having to switch NANDs whenever you want to play GBA stuff, the double install method is the best solution for that, however, you waste more space for that. Updated sysNAND is good IMO because it allows you to play 3DS games, DSi games and GBA games without dualboot or double installs.

And I meant FIRM0/FIRM1 protection there, sorry, and it's the same thing :p It just protect/patches FIRM0/FIRM1 writing.

dont forget the Au in the start of the Cfw give it a cool name, nah i was joking (but i personally like more Aureinand than Reinand name sry Reisyukaku) i like too see Aurei like a cfw noob-proof (you can install to a 3ds of a friend and tell him to dont delete nothing in the sd and you friend only have to worry of having fun)

I can give you that, but do you play that much GBA that it is a deal breaker. Updated sysNAND does seem like (is) a great feature, but for the longest time it has been considered best practice leave sysNAND as vanilla as possible. I still feel that is excellent advice. I have been using AuReiNand as my default CFW until the ReiNand release, but I like the direction Rei is going.

TBH I have been playing more GBA than 3DS games those days :p So it's kind of a dealbreaker to me.
Also how are the reboot patches working on ReiNAND+o3DS? Can you reboot into DS/GBA stuff from emuNAND and play Smash/MH at the same time?
