Sony Constantly Hacked, Reasons?

Very simply put, we are using Anonymous' internet. It's their grounds and if you break any 'rules' of the internet in a sense, they don't want you on their land and will remove you. I know Anonymous wasn't responsible for the PSN hack but as I've read Anonymous is part of a NATO like hackers organization. They just backed out of this particular project. =)

I believe it's a combination of two factors. One being that hackers have realized how awful Sony is with security, and two being that people are pissed with their actions in suing Geohot.

I agree. I think that the moment Anonymous announced the DDOS attacks, the other Hackers started working.

DDoS attacks aren't hacking dawg. A DDoS attack in no way means that Sony is easy to hack, just that their servers aren't good at taking the heavy stress of thousands upon thousands of instant requests. DDoS is about as far from hacking as something considered an attack online can get. If I was hacker, I wouldn't think that all because Sony could be hit by a DDoS attack successfully meant that their server sucked. With the two not being related in the least, it would be a fairly ridiculous assumption.

In not wanting to read through the past few pages in their entirety; for those saying Sony deserved it, they didn't and don't. Sony may have fucked up, but you need to learn where to place the blame. It would have never been an issue had the hackers not made it a point to steal the information. As it stands, nothing has happened in over a month in regards to the information, so it's debatable whether the people actually got all useful information, or if they are just scared of trying to use it.

What people also need to realize is that nobody is unhackable. Praise Microsoft all you want, but at any time, a hacker could easily make it a point to bring the company to its knees. There are always people that know where the holes are, and how to exploit them to the maximum. Ignorance, as fun as it is, is stupid to rely on time and time again. If you want to say getting hacked means you have bad security, then you better tell the US government to create some unstoppable security with the Pentagon being breached by hackers more than once.

On this note, he is completely correct. I agree with his stand point but also want to note on what he stated in his last sentence. If you pay someone to make you an impenetrable force, the 1 person most knowing on how to get in, is the designer. Now can you believe that same designer is the best at his craft in the WORLD? Hell no, someone else is even yet more devoted. In the world of hacking I assume it's person for person 1 after another ability greater and greater. So long as you have an entrance, even if only for a select approved few, the occasional 1 in said odd million can get through without permission but rather with sheer skill. I just gotta wonder who's the greatest of them all

Reasons (none go together, by the way):
1) Anonymous is like that (if it really is Anonymous who is doing this)
2) The Streisand effect works like that
3) Sony's still not getting the hint and isn't updating their security
4) SOMEONE is angry at Sony for SOMETHING
5) Some nerdy idiot is attempting to play Wii Sports on his PS3, but attempting with hacking

For the SUCCESS I can only blame Sony. I noticed it since they tried forcing rootkits on ppl's PCs to prevent copying music from their CDs, some of the exhuberant and outright opulent commercials they make, the confidence and aggression with which they went for pirates, and the time they made a fake blog to promote the PSP: Sony's attitude is now arrogant, daring and careless. In one sentence, a lot of offense and little defense.

They seem to feel like they have everything in the bag and all the problems of the universe solved and can now simply do as they please. Resting on their laurs, they also started making serious mistakes that proffessional companies usually don't make.

As for reasons for the hack... well picture it like this: some skinny guy walks into a biker bar acting all superior and mocking everyone. He has no means to defend himself but constantly provokes. When someone DOES get angry, he gets his ass kicked bigtime. That's what I think happened with Sony.

not to the level of sony. sony admitted defeat by taking geohot to court. they knew they couldn't defeat hackers using their programming abilities but could using money. at least microsoft makes an effort to combat hackers using software-related means. sony is either too lazy or too stupid to do it themselves.

They should do what Microsoft has: ban the consoles. Smart/Smart?

I think one of the biggest problems with sony is that they have become so out-of-touch with the consumer. one person mentioned that the ngp has so many unrelated features that it is as if sony is throwing all these features against the wall and seeing what sticks. that is a very poor business tactic.

I also find sony's attitude of 'let others do the work while we take the credit' unnerving. the ps3 is essentially a combination of the 360 and wii. it's almost as if they don't want to do any work or earn anything themselves. plus, sony acts as though they're doing us a favor when they release a new electronic product. consumers no longer say what they want but rather sony does. face it: sony is 1984 come true.

many seem to defend sony by stating "all corporations are that way." well, that's not necessarily true. if it were, we wouldn't be talking about it here.

I really think Sony is being made an example of;

So many laws that govern us are persuaded by big powerful businesses; companies like Sony monopolize the market and pretty much control consumers and we buy into their stuff like lemmings. However, it can be shown that even if you do have a multi-billion dollar company, it is possible to burn from being power hungry. I would be afraid of governing my products the way Sony did if I were a company.
