SEGA just revealed a few more snippets of information about Sonic Generations on 3DS, and it seems the game will include some oft-requested features.
SEGA has confirmed two-player online competitive play for the title, sparking speculation there'll be a second playable character in the game besides the Classic and Modern versions of the hedgehog.
The game will also feature StreetPass support, though no further details on this were given. We'd expect sharing of best times at the least, but SEGA will go into more detail at a future date.
A Sonic Heroes-like Special Stage was also revealed, which should look pretty trippy in 3D.
You can try out Sonic Generations on PS3 and Xbox 360 in advance starting today. No such luck for the 3DS version of the game, but at least Sega was good enough to share some screens and details today.
In Japan, the 3DS version of Sonic Generations is titled Sonic Generations Blue Adventure, as opposed to the "Sonic Generations White Space & Time" of the PS360 version. While the two versions offer the same choice of Classic Style and Modern Style play options, they're otherwise quite different. Outside of the Green Hill Zone, which is pictured in the gallery, the 3DS title has all unique stages.
Features of the 3DS version mentioned by Sega today include:
The appearance of Big Arm, Sonic the Hedgehog 3's final boss
Two player internet competitive play
Street Pass support
A Special Stage that will be familiar to those who played Sonic Heroes
edit:
just added extra pics for temp
beter.. the patience of some people
