Remember the E3 2008 rumors? One was an alleged new Sonic sidescroller game for DS called Sonic Attitude. Well, it's real! Ok......it's not official, but it's a hombrew 2.5D (3d environments and 2d gameplay) Sonic fan game. It's being developed by a talented Brazilian programmer called Endri:

Portuguese:
http://www.freewebs.com/endri/

English translated (Google):
http://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%...sl=pt&tl=en

He's developing primarily for the DS. He has a Windows tech demo though that he put up:

He also says he is developing a mobile phone version! The Windows tech demo works great. Full speed on my dumpster PC from 2002! Don't be afraid to try it!

Here are some pics that he uploaded:

The demo has some major bugs like falling off the path to your doom, but it's a great start! He says he'll work on some 3d parts that will be controlled with the stylus. The engine is completely developed by Endri and it has 360 degree movement physics within the 2d restrictions. There are loops, slopes, and corkscrews. Sonic doesn't animate yet. There are rings as well. He says he's come much farther than the tech demo and will soon upload a DS rom to test on flashcards or No$GBA.

The place this was first announced:

As for the "Sonic Attitude" rumor, here's what happened apparently:

"On a side note, I would like to clarify the Sonic Attitude rumor. On March, 2008, I put in my homepage the link for the first demo version. Them a friend of mine, since the page was in portuguese, confused everything and started spreading rumors that SEGA would be developing Sonic Attitude for DS. I don't know with SEGA is really developing a Sonic Attitude too, but if they are, I'm pretty much sure that this isn't for DS. And if they are, this is just a coincidence."- Endri

This is NOT my game. I haven't ever spoken to this person and I don't take credit for ANYTHING to do with it. I just came across it and thought it was a really good job. It's DS homebrew, so I posted it. If I get any angry words about posting this I apologize and you may lock this.

The screenshots are probably from a development version of the game. Most developers try to get everything working first, tweaking the code and getting everything right before they finalize the look and feel of the game so in the beginning stages, they tend to use placeholders for the graphics and such just to test the game mechanics which I believe is the case here. So there is a good chance that the look of the game will improve before its released.
