I recently noticed my phone (Xperia Play 2.3.2, 'Gingerbreak') is losing it's battery charge fairly quickly.

I full charge used to show about 140-150 hours standby, and would with average use last about three days before needing a charge.

However for the couple of weeks or more it's been showing only ~28 hours of standby for a full charge, and today without even using the phone it has dropped to 5 hours remaining in less than 6 hours! Clearly something i've installed must be causing this but I have no idea what, i'd rather not go through uninstalling every app and update installed in the last two weeks - so is there something that will show me what's been using the battery?

Checking "About Phone > Battery Use" shows only what I would normally expect, Cell standby (25%), Bluetooth (25%), Wifi (25%), Phone Idle (24%), Display (3%) and Android System (2%) - nothing that I would expect to see a sudden jump in battery usage from.

There is some sort of Battery drain bug on the Gingerback 2.3.2. Apparent it drains the battery like OMG WTF, When you suddenly realized that your battery is draining fast, turn your phone off and on again.

Turn of Background data At Accounts and sync, to make it less frequent, This problem can be fix, but I forgot how... I will come back when i found it.

Go back to the battery usage screen and tap the graph for more information about the time it spends awake too; if it shows a long time "Awake" without "Screen on" then that might go at least partway to explaining it.

Quick update, my phone decided to start showing me the start up guide thing whenever i rebooted it - something i haven't seen since i first setup the phone many months ago, and the battery drain was getting ridiculous (fully charged overnight, minutes of battery left after being at work for 6 hours) So i decided fuck it and have factory reset the phone - i cannot be 100% sure until i fully charge it overnight and see what happens but early signs seem to indicate the problem has gone away, at least for now.

I'll post back, or edit this post tomorrow with whether it has been sorted.

Hopefully your problem has been fixed but if not, try out Juice Defender. You have to pay for it, but if you know where to look, you can pirate it. It's an app that conserves your battery charge tremendously. I use it on my HTC Sensation and with heavy use, last me around 20 hours before needing to recharge.

Thanks for all the responses, the factory reset has fixed the problem, i'm currently restoring some apps/games and keeping a close eye on battery consumption.

I will check out Juice Defender, i'm sure i can obtain it somewhere :ninja:

Flash a custom recovery(CWM)......
then go to advance>wipe battery stats

NOTE -: wipe battery stats only when your battery is 100% charge ........
