Okay, so my friend has a modded Wii with a Wiikey and has the Homebrew Channel installed for it already. I would like him to put the must-have applications for it. The thing is, do I really need Starfall? What other applications besides emulators and DVDX should I put on the Wii? He hasn't updated to 4.0 yet, but what tutorial should I direct him to to make sure that everything works when he updates to 4.0 and nothing broken?

Try MiiWii, it's on these forums and it's by far the best softmod pack available. Starfall just adds extra protection to your Wii, but really, it's best if you combine it with preloader. Though, any of your hacks will be gone if he updates to 4.0.

Hacks? what do you mean? Starfall and MiiWii work with 4.0 right?

most hacks don´t work with 4.0 and starfall only works with 3.2.

Sorry for the double post but is Starfall a necessity? Can you control...

* Region free GC games with video mode patch

* Region free Wii games

* Region free channels

* No mainmenu BGM

* Start rescue-menu when Y is held on 1st GC controller

* Remove rescue-menu diagnostic disc check

* Replace health warning with backmenu

* Skip disc update check

And enable and disable them?

This is what preloader is used for, so htat you can toggle which hacks you want on and off along with a few other things you can do. For example you can turn the stand by mode of so the wii turns straight off with the red light on the power button. And for an easy softmod use miiwii it's by far the easiest to install

Oh yeah BTW, I wouldn't update the wii to 4.0 right yet, Just wait until others find exploits with the new system menu because once you update you will lose preloader and starfull capabilities.

    i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
    It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

    same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

    There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
    But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

    Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
