I'd like to pick one up, but I don't want to pick something up and not be able to do something with it.

Uh, to be a bit more specific, what should I buy if I want to install a CFW/play ISOs?

All of them do, as long as you don't mind it's being temporary on all 3000 models and later 2000 models.

AFAIK you need to have firmware version 5.03 or less. If you have that the all PSPs are moddable so far, but only PSP-1000's and early PSP-2000's can be flashed with CFW.

Later model PSP-2000's and PSP-3000's can run CFW but they cannot be flashed, so if you shutdown the PSP you will have to re-enable CFW or you can just keep the PSP in standby.

Don't get a 3000 if you want a full, non temporary cfw.

As for psp 2000s, silver daxter packs and white star wars versions should all be hackable because they came out early on. For example, my silver one is a TA-085v1. Blue madden and red god of war versions are different. Some are hackable and some are not. The earlier ones were, but then they started putting TA-088v3 motherboards in them which a pandora battery useless. Also black psp 2000s are the same, just depends on when they were manufactured. The best way to test is to have a pandora battery and magic memory stick on hand and see if the psp boots to the pandora menu.
