if you've been using a flash cart on your 3DS, next month when you update your 3DS, it will explode.

true story, I heard nintendo's testing it right now

They have no use bricking your system because it would flood their support lines with "why is my system broken", also, they will lose potential game sales when your system doesn't work. If they just block the carts, that would be enough.

on spot.
couldnt have said it any better.

This rumor is the most retarded EVER and PERIOD.

BRICKING ON PURPOSE IS NOT A GOOD MARKETING IDEA.

Pip'
Why not?
It would help them get 3rd party support.

The only reason I am not using flashcarts is because i'm afraid of having the online services banned. I'm not afraid of those stupid bricking rumors though.

I really do hope they won't do anything against the DS flashcarts users. Playing DS games with an Analog Stick is waaaaaay better than the traditional D-Pad!

I don't think they will ban at all, since they can't see if it is an actual game or a flashcard (Well with the AK2i that is)

The one time I inserted my ak2i, it showed up as ak2i (and is still counted in the number of titles played).

What happens next month? Let's see -

-Browser, eshop, etc added to 3DS.
-Free ExciteBike 3D (possibly only in Japan)
-Blocking of Flashcards for a week or so until updated
-Thousands of posts saying "My card doesn't work." "When will my card work?" "Is there bricking?" "No bricking here"

I'm sure he's speaking of those who had properly updated cards and had them appear as the "Dorasu" game.

As for yours appearing as just some Ak2i... Well... Good luck with that unless you formatted. Not saying something bad will happen but I'm just hoping for the best in-case some type of issue with bricking or blocking occurs.

Nintendo & Online Services doesn't exist =X Wii and DS had crap online support, even a simple versus play was a pain in the butt.

The only online service in existance is the eStore. Blocking people from the eStore would lose them potential sales and noone would ever buy a new 3DS after getting the previous one banned just for the eStore so it's only losses on Nintendo's side.

+the all new buyable game demos wont be available to people that will get banned
so this will end up in developers loss too
my money goes to "the current working flashcards getting blocked"->>> "not bricked".

Actually, some flash carts can brick the 3DS though the risk of bricking is the same whether it is a 3DS, DSi, DS Lite, or even DS Phat. Just don't use crappy clones and you should be fine.

Yeah while that is true I don't think its going to be related to the update or even a remote brick.

Among the whole bricking rumor, I do have a concern. I use an SCDS2, and for those that know about it, it's SoC design requires a lot of power. Because of that, could a problem potentially come from it? The only official card I can think of that requires more power than standard cards would be the one with Bluetooth for the wireless keyboard as part of the Pokemon Typing game.

I believe its impossible to brick a 3ds by using flashcard. and most they will stop working. I do however believe that the flashcards wont work on the new update. Also they may ban people from online but i doubt that because look at the wii they did nothing
