It's supposed to check if a slot-1 device really works without patching, or if they are patching on the fly when the game is loaded.
No-patch is much better, because it means that the device will be more compatible, and not have to rely on updates to the patching engine if new games are released with different file-access code.
Perhaps some people with various slot-1 devices can run this and report the results? I've only got slot-2, but I'm sure many others would also be interested in the results of the test!
