I think EBA came out before the big boom of the ds and music games being popular yet effected sales of the game.
EBA was released in 2005 way before Guitar Hero II in 2006 that started the boom.

EDIT: Also can not blame people downloading to flash cards the R4 didn't come into play until 2006 also

It's because the sales were LOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

I actually bought this awesome game though.

They weren't making enough profit, since the sales were PPPPPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Same here. This and many other games have proven to be worth the purchase once I got to play them.

I would definitely be down for some EBA2.

I think the real main reason of the poor sales of this game is bad advertising. If instead of putting the Elite Beat Agents on the cover, they put the Elite Beat Divas on the cover instead, this game would have gone platinum already.

Why do people prefer Ouendan 3 over Elite Beat 2? Too much weaboo things there, perhaps?
Don't get me wrong, I like japanese music, I even listen some, but I rather prefer western music over the generic J-POP/ROCK/HAPPY from the last years...

It's not that. But honestly, the EBA's tracklist was mediocre at best. Not only that, the difficulty was a lot lower than Ouendan games. The final song of Ouendan 2 took me 102938109238190238109238 tries, and the final song of EBA was a breeze right after.

As for me, I wouldn't mind either one.

I would be happy for a sequel if they fix up the difficulty and everything on EBA, it seemed far too slow and just not that great at all compared to Ouendan 2. But as has been said, the tracklist was pretty bad too, so they'd need to fix that up too.

im not a j-music lover, but i so enjoyed Ouendan 1 & 2 .... but i'd like a EBA 2 more than a Ouendan 3 (but ifd tht one comes out, im so importing it!!)... is jus tthat when you hear the music you hears everyday, grabbing (nailing) the rythm seems easier... anyho' whatever game comes 1st, 2nd or 3rd, im buyin it... i just loved those games... and yeah, the final song of Ouendan 2 was harder than jumpin jack flash.... but i dont think the last song of ouendan was harder than that. (im off to playing some JJF on the DS)

Ouendan 1 suck! Thanks to EBA Moero Nekketsu is such good game, they took a few things of EBA and improve the gameplay for the second Ouendan.

I'm dying for more EBA mang. EBA2 would be like a dream come true. It'd be even better the last two songs were The Final Countdown and Don't Stop Me Now. Oh, and I'd like to see Twilight by Electric Light Orchestra somewhere in the game.

I wholeheartedly agree with all your song choices. I would love to see twilight in the game. I can't help to get a feeling of excitement the moment, near the middle of the song, were there is that short drum break, and the chorus comes back in. Gives me goosebumps every time.

Although Pokemon HG/SS make ppl happy, which Nintendo doesnt like, they made it because Pokemon gets HUGE $$$. They dont care what ppl want, they care about $$$

great idea but i think it would be difficult to get a really nice collection of songs like in EB1. Like i have a feeling there would be a random rap song in it for some reason

I loved Ouendan better than EBA since the difficulty was waaaay harder. And Ouendan 2 had the "No timing circle" mode that was perfect.

Also I liked better Ouendan 2 than EBA because Ouendan had the Elite Beat Agends and Divas. But EBA didn't had Doumeki Kai, Ippongi Ryuta, Tanaka Hajime or the back Saito and Suzuki or the Cheerleaders Kanda Aoi, Amemiya Sayaka, Anna Lindhurst

If a new game is made they should make a "New Songs Dowload" mode (better make it very easy to put our songs in it)

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
