I think is a problem of reading OPs, release pages and documentation.
they are called: "sigpatches" no "n" on it.
if you have installed them correctly no "corruption" should arise.
the most common origin of corruption are:
- Using the bad format type on your SD.
- Incomplete copy of files to your SD, or copying to the wrong folder
- do not uncompress all the folders structure correclty.
- Unneded folders on SD:/atmosphere/contents
- Outdated sysmodules and kip files
Since a while now, on the github page the two options of download files (hekate and fuse) are exactly the same files and content, the names are kept for compatibility with automated downloaders and updaters.
Sadly I don't use not-legal BDSP so can't test by my self but the sigpatches are working fine for me on all my Homebrew and game backups.
