I will start this thread off with a video i converted from youtube.

someone has asked me for a tutorial on how I converted this video. See below:

As you can see there is no left and right option here. Both the left and right views have been merged into a single anaglyph stream before upload to youtube. None of the current 3ds specific converters can handle this as they NEED a separate left and right view.

• Download Stereo Movie Maker from http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/ (freeware)
• Download Spark1223's 3ds video download and converter from http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2319662/Hosted/3DS%20Video%20Downloader.zip (freeware)
• Download the video you want.
• Load it into Stereo Movie Maker ..... FILE>open stereo movie
• Select the Anaglyph option ( I know there is a preserve color option...but it only places color in the right stream)
• Save the file .... FILE>Save as 3d-avi file
• This will save it as 2 separate video streams and 1 audio stream. However it is not in a format that the 3ds can use just yet.
• Load Spark1223's 3ds video download and converter
• Select the File conversion tab and load the 3d-avi file ... select and output file name and select quality of 1 ...then select "for upload to youtube" (I know we are not going to use it on youtube)
• This will separate it back into a single video stream with a left and right view and 1 audio track
• Load the file you just saved BACK into 3ds video download and converter ... this time selecting "side by side"
• The video is now ready for use on the 3ds

I recorded this in Robotics today. I was running a stress test to see what happens when the bot hits a wall or solid object. It revealed a lot, but one of my classmates had tons of fun changing the pitch and speed and whatnot. The 3D isn't great, but it's fun to tinker with the pitch and whatnot. IT MAKES FUNNY NOISES.

well the one i posted is 21.44 megs for 30 seconds. 21.44*14=300.16 megs seems about right.

I'd also share mine, but most of them are copyrighted. Stuff like 3D gameplay vids, 3D movie trailers, that sort of thing. well, i got Ico and Shadow of the Colossus in HD 3D, but man, they might as well be 2D with what little depth I see. :/ I also have one for Skyrim, but the convergence is waaaaaay beyond what the 3DS can handle, resulting in a 3D world where everything is pop-out. the result? it's dizzyingly nausea-inducing bad. seriously, why would you pop out something that's supposed to be in the distance? i don't get what goes on in the minds of the people who did those vids...

Avatar was perfect, but the depth range is pretty shallow. a few subtle pop-outs, mostly subtle depth. it's there, but it's far from Zelda3D on max. still, i'm gonna go encode the whole freaking thing, even if it takes loads. i never saw the film in IMAX, so i wanted to see its 3D version on my 3DS. it's the main reason i bought one.

I'm pretty sure 3D gameplay vids and 3D movie trailers are ok since we post them everywhere with you tube. We are talking about not posting full movies.

I got the same Skyrim video, I us the converter to switch the left with the right video.

oh, you have to swap it? can the batch file do that? i have the frontend, but it's not working well for me, so i'm using the batch file.

Fuck yeah! It's sweet! If it didn't look downsized, I'd say it's perfect for the 3DS. First-person hack n slash ala Hexen looks like it'll be a good match on the 3D screen. Man, it almost feels natural. Too bad Skyrim will never happen on the 3DS, but I'm perfectly fine with Morrowind or Oblivion. Heck, I'd take Daggerfall!

Oh yeah, I also grabbed that 3D WOW: Wrath of the Lich King trailer, but depth seems reversed. The opening frozen throne looks like it's engraved into the surrounding instead of embossed (you know, concave or curves away from you instead of convex; can't think of any better description). I'm gonna try swapping screens with that vid, but so far, with quality set to 1, it looks like something out of a 3DS game cinematic.
