I've asked it on XDA, they had a solution but I tried it and it didn't work. It seems to be quite a common problem, that increases the probability of it being fixed I guess.

It sounds like CWMR is saying it's installed when it isn't. Is your galaxy's a captivate? If so, take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242533 If you download the KH3 Odin kernel and flash it with heimdall.

If you haven't got a captivate, just look around for a CWM kernel in zimage format.

just wondering, what's the difference between a captivate and i9000? isn't it just the exactly the same phone, just with another name (captivate for us regions, i9000 for europe regions) ?

Captivate has a few minor hardware differances such as no front camera. But essentaily yes
I have a front camera, so no i9000? I want to get started on custom ROMs ASAP but this little thingy is frustrating the hell out of me. I don't even know if I'll even need that back-up, but it's better to be safe than sorry ;)

You do have an i9000. Just realized your in Europe.

As for the error, I can't think of anything that wouldnt delete all your data. If your okay with you data been deleted, look on the i9000 forums for an Odin/heimdall custom tomorrow. Make sure it doesn't have bootloaders though, as s that msame there is a small chance of bricking.

Still not fixed, I just can't figure it out on my self....

How did you install CWM? via ROM manager or flashing though Odin?
ROM Manager.
Try flashing something like this ROM (Use the "One Click" method) : http://forum.xda-dev...&highlight=odin
From there you will have rot and CWM.

Just make sure that there is no way your USB cable could drop out.
I already rooted with a one click program. If I do it via that link you gave me, won't that be a problem, double rooting and double installing CWM?

To make Astro show third party application APK files, you have to first go and enable third party applications. It's in the settings, I think.

If I'm not understanding correctly and you've already done so, then I don't know.

Thanks. Tried it with this, all the steps were completed successfully. Phone boots up fine but when I try to backup the ROM via the ROM Manager of CWM, I get the same error :(

.....
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed

so wrong CF-Root file, or just the wrong method?
