While the design is nowhere near as drastic a change as the last dashboard update for the Xbox 360, it's still more than a slight nip and tuck, with only the overall concept of sliding tiles remaining. Everything else, from their perspective to the colours to the fonts to the menus is different. Different, and cleaner.[/p]

    meh, not much different

Looks like it has a more clean look to it, I'm not sure if I like it or not.

Very simple edit. No more perspective, just a series of tiles in a line with a slight zoom.
Not sure I particularly like it. I liked the colourful old one. I'm all for having this theme as the default just letting us have the current one as an option. The whole themes thing in NXE is bullshit. its just a load of different backgrounds, they should open the theming up for changing the menus as well as the backgrounds and the friends backgrounds

Depending on how much you like live you can try it for yourself as well:

Oh and as I am already posting it looks like a few things were mixed up for this release so I would not hold my breath for a quick freeboot update (it might still happen but it would not be worth sitting on your chosen site pressing f5 for).

Meh, it's not much different. I kind of like it though.

After seeing abit more I've decided I dislike the new theme. Fine with everything other than the fact that the menus are plain white boxes. Everything's so square it hurts. I really wish MS would let people theme properly for the Dashboard (edit menu colours and images etc.) so that Themes are actually worth something.
I'll update because I have to to keep Live though.

I thought that but now I've got it installed it I don't dislike it as much. But I just think it's a step in the wrong direction...I do agree with what you've said though.

I like the concept, but the tiles are so straight and jagged that it just bothers me.

I like the rounded off edges scheme MUCH better.

You can see they have deliberately downgraded it to make it more intuitive for kinect controls.
Hate it, the original dashboard was better.

I prefer the tiles better rather than the perspective view thing
I hope there's more customisation and such of the menus etc. [IMG]

I like it. They haven't changed much but it's looking really smooth.

I actually like it. I thought the older one was a little too "showy" and less functional. This one looks like it would perform quicker and smoother because they made things display cleaner and more simplistic.

The menu looks cool, but I will be eagerly awaiting voice control.

I like it. Looks fast, and sleek. No more ugly bright green buttons no matter what theme you have.

it looks much more simplistic .

What the fuck is that trash music playing in the BG. Fuck turning down my volume, I'm just not going to watch it. Why do people do retarded BS like that? It's really annoying... [IMG]

Well whatever, looks like a simple edit anyways. Moving on....

Have they found another way to include even more advertising?

Who knows? Maybe they'll start charging us to look at all these ads?

    Oh wait, they already do.

OMG it's the same. Just like Microsoft with Vista and Windows 7. Minus the Superbar, it's the same.

Don't even start with that. Windows 7 has a LOT of improvements in terms of speed and stability behind the scenes compared to Vista.

I prefer this dash to the current one. I wish it allowed you to make themes for it...
