Hi Guys,

I used to have a DS Lite and the original SCDS1 (ver 1), but had to sell them a little while ago.

However I have just got a new DS Lite and my SCDS1 HC arrives tomorrow and I am a bit confused by the additional features on the SCDS1.

I will be loading it with OS 3.0 and have already edited the global.ini file to disable the Info window from loading on startup.

However I need some help with understanding the other settings and was hoping you might be able to offer some help.

What I wanted to know is are all the settings for the features global or are they set for each individual game?

If they are per game, is there a default set that are enabled for all games and then you just add things like Cheats and RTS to each individual game?

Does any know what these are for in the global.ini?

PatchReadType=1
PatchSaverType=1

Any help would be appreciated :-)

Patch settings are not recorded for each individual game. Rather you save the default patch settings you like, and for games you wish different options, you have to toggle the settings before you play.

I think those two are patch settings.

All patch settings can be saved from inside the OS, so you don't need to worry about manually editing those patch settings in the global.ini

    SteamDeck doesn't use macos?

    @AncientBoi, a Windows 11 Pro license alone is $139 (including physical) lol.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @K3Nv3, SteamDeck runs on Linux.

    Doesn't Linux have higher performance than windows?
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
    Microsoft is a massive publisher now so drivers will obviously be best for Windows Linux is more best for older systems with potential
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @False_Hope, Linux operates on its own frameworks that use far less resources and it's less harsh on performance.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    So technically yes.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
    Yeah but most games are intended to run around exe
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I wonder if it could run like... Splinter Ceell Chaos Theory?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @AncientBoi, It's unsupported currently according to ProtoDB: https://www.protondb.com/app/13570
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
    If you got an older system Linux might be preferred but newer hardware I'd stick with windows

    I got the linux screen YaY
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    So you'll have to sideload alongside Windows. You can have one partition for Windows and another for Linux.

    Lutris can be a pain in the dick to use and figure out settings
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    As for virtual machines, they're not generally the best for playing games due to limitations. Closest would be SoftGPU which are third-party drivers for graphics.

    @K3Nv3, Oh yea, totally. Lutris is very tricky to get working.

    I'm not hating on Linux just being honest about it 🤷

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @AncientBoi, If it's already installed, it does tell you to remove the installation media afterwards such as the USB stick or DVD that you installed LM with.
