Hi everyone

I was trying to make both loaders run on my Wii and I read on djtaz's guide that to save future problems it was good to make the Safe Update to 3.3 with the app in his zip. I launched it, it showed it was downloading something and installing it and seemed like it had finished doing its work and asked for a reset.

After that, the Wii System Menu still shows version 3.2E, and I read on another forum that the Safe Update is only for 3.3U...is that true? What did it do to my Wii?

Thanks for your help!!

PS: don't misunderstand this, I'm not giving djtaz any fault, his zips are awesome and he's always a great help to everyone having problems here!!

Thanks, it still works and it's not bricked. So what did the update do to the Wii? I thought it would update the firmware to 3.3, but it's still on 3.2...

First of all, what was your system version before this attempt?
Because I had 3.3 already (v1, before the oct 23 update which I haven't installed) and I installed the IOS51 and Wiishop Update with Tona's installer.
After doing that my Wii system continues to be 3.3 like before.
You should check what you installed and tell us better.

Ok, thanks everyone for helping!!

Out of curiosity...did that update install anything on my wii? If so, can I remove it?

I'm not an expert in removing stuff, I mean I successfully removed and reinstalled a couple of cIOSes but I'm still a bit unexperienced. Anyway you should be able to uninstall stuff using WadManager (for wad files, of course) and AnyTitleDeleter (which requires you to be very careful)

General rule is - if it works and its not breaking anything , let it be.
The update would have updated the shop channel to the latest version - uninstalling that would mean you cant use it again.
Id also leave the cIOS on it in case its required for future use - its not harming anything

Ok, i'll just leave it there then, I just hope I won't have problems with future updates

i think a package for updating any 3.1/3.2 systems to 3.3v1 would be a nice thing to have

having installed BUL 0.3 on a few friends systems lately who have been on 3.1 and never updated i've found myself updating them to 3.3eV2 and then downgrading which i think is a lil bit inconvient but also rather risky.

the only reason i have updated the systems is the plain and simple fact that eventually there will be games that will require you to have a certain firmware version to run.

BUL0.3 and also Wan's release are both great pieces of code and i'm truly thankful there are brains such as theres on this forum..but would it be possible to turn the update into a .dol and have it install from SD from the 000000001 folders the way cIOS does..am jus been theoretical here as i am not sure if this is technically possible but must be surely a good way to go....

can anybody shed any light on this as i would like to take a go at this myself.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
