It's called the Hammer, and if you're too impatient for that, you can just save and hope for a storm.

Catch yourself a monster that harvest, such as an Orc, Orc hunter, goblin, killer ants, ants, etc. For wood, there is no easy way out. Upgrade your axe, and chop down stumps and stuff on the untilled soil in caves.
