The price isn't that bad considering what the rumors are claiming. The real question is is that will also include a controller because from what the rumors have said about the controller it sounds like it'll be a huge dip in the pocket. I foresee Nintendo completely owning the gaming industry when this console releases, but it'll only last until the next-gen Sony and Microsoft consoles are released. I also foresee, Sony and Microsoft foreseeing what i foresaw and push to release their (most likely uncomplete) next-gen console as early as possible, which sorta make sense.

The title is misleading. The actual IGN article your source paraphrases asserts (based on 'sources') that a price range of $350-$400 is possible.

ps3 was always expensive at launch and since the 3ds, i cant say this is impossible. Its maybe the reason why nintendo were focusing on features rather than power due to this very reason of price.
