That's cool, but I'm happy with my launch console. I'll only buy another one if it has an OLED screen.
True, I'll probably replace mine if a die shrink happens. I might be able to sell my current Switch 2 still at 70% price at that point in time.

That is very backwards of Nintendo.

Everyone thought Apple would keep the USB-C iPhones for the PAL (EUR/AUS) market only, but they made it the standard.

If Nintendo releases a Switch 2 with replaceable battery and OLED screen I'll pre order as soon as it goes up.
They probably needed to redo all their factory process in order to supply enough of the revision. I'm quite confident that it'll happen worldwide eventually. Maintaining 2 different type of the same product is expensive.

I will sure trade mine for a better screen and battery too if it's not too pricy ....
Especialy now with the boost mode which consume 25 percent more battery in genera!, (it's not like the battery was great in the first place ...)

Nintendo will just keep it exclusive to EU probably, which sucks. Hopefully the OLED is repairable worldwide.
Why is everyone assuming they'll release switch2 OLED? I mean it's possible but I would keep my expectations low.

I didnt mean to say it will be a sure thing about a new model like that, just that I will change for sure if a more optimised model is released later....

I think people are misinterpreting the law.

From what i understand all the EU laws state is that is has to be accesible via common tools.
switch 2 can already be opened up with common tools.

The only thing they'd likely change is no longer using glued in batteries and maybe the screws on the joycon slots no longer being hidden under a sticker you need a heatgun to remove if you wanna preserve it.

prob more targeted at apple where its a major process from needing a heat pad to safely get the screen off to borderline proprietary screws to then needing to register it with apple as a genuine part less IOS lock out.

Guys. This means we're going to find the switch 2 exploit by triggering a stack overflow with counterfeit batteries. I'm SciresM's brother and he told me this

https://nintendoeverything.com/nint...revision-with-replaceable-battery-for-europe/

on feb 18 2027 the european law will force all electronic devices sold there to have a user-accessible battery. I'm really excited to see what's to come with these new editions and electronics in general. Back to the good times.
It's really good for both the controllers and the console itself. I wonder if they'll use the same battery setup as the switch 1 pro controller for the new pro controller

Never buy things day one, folks :D
Never buy things day one or play any of the games or have something for the kids to play in the car on long trips because government regulation might force a redesign which will hit shelves on day 700 or somethin? OK. Switch 1 from 2017 still has a good battery as does my old Pro controller.

We will have to see how easy it is to replace these batteries. It's a start and I want to see the EU push companies like these to do even more.

If it's like the Wii U GamePad, it could be super easy.

The replaceable battery sounds cool, but it's not something that's going to entice me to buy another Switch 2. It'd need to have a much better screen and that's probably coming a few years later.

My Switch 2 is like new so can't complain.

Because it's free money for them late in the generation when the cost of manufacturing has gone down and all they have to do is add an OLED to charge $50-100 more.

When there's Switch 2 OLED models I don't even see the point of using a Switch 1 OLED as Switch 1 games run vastly better on an NS2 overall.

Maybe to hack it and play games for free, I guess.

There are still reasons, the biggest among them being pixel perfect output. Since most Switch games don't target 1080p docked they do not look right on a 1080p screen like the Switch 2.

This is great news. But I have the sinking feeling that ninty might increase the price for such a model for in Europe as well as limiting warranty to local buyers (ie only able to claim warranty within europe to deter exports).

It takes far more than that. I'm sure that there is already plenty of awareness and grousing about it outside of the EU. But as it stands, the legislators in such countries simply don't have the interest or will to put it into law like the EU. Except maybe Australia.
Warranty has always been only claimable from the area where you purchased it. You can't buy a console in the USA and then try to use the warranty in Europe. They also won't repair your device if it's from a different region, only swap out the whole console
