I've been constantly hearing about how Ron Paul is one of the worst candidates, so I decided to finally do a little research on him.

Seriously, what the hell!?
I haven't found out anything bad about him so far, and holy shit, he's a republican!?
HOW!?
I must have missed something, does he speak in opposites or something?

So seriously, is there something I missed, or is he really as great as he seems?

Here are a few cons.

1. Racist (do a google search. we actually had a thread like this here and it brought all th eracists out of the wood work to defend him)
2. He wants to pull te U.S. out of the U.N. Think about how much other countries hate the U.S. already. Now imagine we seperated ourselves from the tis that are keeping us civilized. Get ready to learn how to speak russian.
3. He's been fighting vigorously to appeal roe vs wade for years so that he can abolish abortion (he's a religious nut)
4. Being a religious nut he's also against gay peoples rights.
5. He supports big business freedom meaning you will be ging to wal-mart to see your doctor.
6. His main concern is not that everyone has a healthplan but an internet plan.

He also has an A+ rating from the Gun Owners of America (seriously, you need to do more than just to want to keep gun ownership like it is for that). He said that whether we're talking about automatic weapons or not is not relevant, basically saying he wouldn't be against legalizing ownership of automatic weapons.
He sees things like the school shootings not as a result of guns being too easily available but the other way around. That if people would carry more guns around they would be able defend themselves more and such things would happen less.

In his defense though, there are worse republicans. Seriously.

The real problem with Ron Paul is that his is a very juvenile world view. His positions seem great to psuedo-intellectuals but if you actually put his policies into practice, the U.S. would fall apart.

At best, his policies support the already rich; he wants to make abortion a states right issue, for example. Sounds good right? All that means is that poor people in conservative states would not be able to have the operation done, where richer people could easily go to another state and have it done.

The idea that he's "pro big business" is silly. He would end corporate welfare, and move us toward ending corporations as legally seperate entities. After all, the majority of large corporations survive thanks to the state. Small business owners are cheering for him.

Ron Paul is more socially conservative than most libertarians, though he would still legalize all drugs, get the government's hands off marriage, and would never censor the internet or any video game. Economically he's a dream candidate for the party, though some would argue he's a little too paranoid of the FED.

You put it perfectly.

Wooly, you are right in that small business owners will like the sound of his plan but like all of his other ideas that sound good to psuedo-intellectuals as kikuchiyo put it- it will end in disaster.

He has spent $20.2million on his presidential campaign that's well over a million dollars per delegate (he has 14). Meanwhile he is losing his seat in congress to Chris Peden. His fundraising web site has switched from raising money for his presidential race to his congressional race.

Paul wants to give the people their money back by eliminating taxes yet he voted against sending the troops in Iraq body armor and equipment.

He is nuts. His mindset is not stable enough to run a country, he can't even hold his seat in congress without people voting him out.
