May I suggest a drag-and-drop safe-trimming option when dragging clean dumps of roms into the "games" folder of the Rominator program? That way we wouldn't have to keep re-trimming roms when compiling them into our flashkarts from the games playlist.

To be honest, this would be useless, because it would take just as much time to flash a pre-trimmed game as opposed to flashing a non trimmed game. Rominator trims on-the-fly (it does no byte seeking) so it copies data only up to a specific byte. Really, it would be a useless feature

@mcp2:
Now let's not get too complicated here

Rominator is meant to be a DS GAME MANAGER

If you want to work with music and movies, that's what other tools are for -- this just helps you manage your clean dumps nicely.

@Logan:
The extra plugin to include Zip support will cost me $99 USD. From here on, if I receive 75% of that in donations, then I'll go ahead and purchase the plugins -- The Zip support would be cross platform for all 3, so your donation will be well..uhh...donated

I've got no problem writing the code to handle Zip functions, but it's all about the licensing

Crashes when going to 'tools' then 'settings' ..

i'm trying to add my flash card to the library but i can't in the initial wizard setup.. and i can't go into the settings either.
great program but i wish it would work @_@

(i also updated it)
anyone know how to fix this?

I just downloaded the newest update via using an older Rominator build, and now I have Rominator for Windows, and when I set it to the folder with games in it, it confirms there are games in it, but it isn't listed in the manger. Using Win Vista right now. Thanks.

Rominator's been updated to v3.5.4 with the following:
- When refreshing, missing or nonexisting games are removed from the library.

Thank you

Can you also add an option to force Rominator not to try to detect the free space available on the Flash card.
It doesn't work on my system. Rominator detects only "Flash: 1.0B" (when in reality, I still have 800Mo to go). Yet, it correctly reports I have 24 roms (1.0GB) on my microSD.
As Rominator doesn't detect the correct free space, I can't copy the roms directly using Rominator to my Flash card.

I'm using Rominator on linux.

Typhoe

I bet I can solve all your issues right here

@Typhoe:
I'll check my code, see if there's anything funny in there. It would be nice if I had Linux to test on

@TheBlueStylus:
You never pressed the 'Refresh' button, did you? I bet you didn't

@beethy:
Hold down Ctrl+Alt when starting Rominator. It'll prompt you and ask to reset your settings file. Try that.

@Harry Potthead:
Of course the link works

hankchill, same problem
ohmy.gif

i now did get the library of both my normal folder and my flash drive forum to work..
but it'd be nice to go into the settings also :]

hankchill: not sure if its just for me. 2 roms aren't in your database they are:

sq-bmfm.nds = 1135 - Biker Mice From Mars (U)(SQUiRE)
sq-lbyt.nds = 1136 - Labyrinth (U)(SQUiRE)

Hope you can add them to your database. Not a huge deal to rename manually, but I mainly use your app for renaming.

Thanks

Please don't tell me which games are not in the database. I usually update once a week up to a certain number -- I believe the latest number is 1034. Correct me on anything before that number

Anything after -- I'll get to it

@beethy:
What OS are you using?

I don't understand the whole infatuation with zip support. I know nds roms, like most roms, are released in zip, but that's for download ease (included nfos and art) and bandwidth reasons I'm sure. I know winrar will let you extract all the archives in one folder to their own folder (keeps everything in place and organized). Extract your games once and save yourself from re extracting re writing back and forth on your drives all the time for eternity. If you really don't want to extract your games for whatever reason, use NDSCRC - it will only manage zipped roms (I use it for GBA roms as I can't find anything better to use for renaming etc). Not to say it doesn't work well, but Rominator is just a nicer looking program with more features.

Why is I don't see more support for Rominator on, say, gbatemps home page, or elsewhere? It rules. Keep it up Hank C

What would be even better, would be 7z support as well as/rather than zip, as its the format torrents use most often.

Yeah, but the problem is, is that if it is zipped, there's no renaming, internal editing, etc. Just straight copying. Won't be able to see the icon, any internal info (like box art, database data, etc), that's one main reason why Zip has been holding me back.

As for 7z, that's definitely not happening, as I've mentioned before, it's extremely complicated to program in. As for torrents, they usually have more than 1 game compressed inside of the 7z archive, correct? They wouldn't just compress 1 file to 7z -- that's not what 7z is for
smile.gif
Even then, Rominator couldn't support it anyways because of having multiple files in a single archive.

But still, the Zip feature costs money that I can't justify spending as of yet

@fuch:
Amen bro. Preach the word
biggrin.gif
Yeah I have no idea why it's not recognized as much... Heck, I even inform the moderators of new releases but don't see them posted up most of the time
frown.gif
Aww well, it's developed for the community, so if the community likes, then I'm happy.

hankchill i need to know where the saved files are located so i can delete them all and redownload rominator and do a fresh install thanks

If you go into the Rominator Data folder (on Windoze in the Application Data folder, or on Mac go into the Library/Preferences Folder), and delete the file called 'backup.rsd'. Those are all your backup files in there.

--Henry

Go to "%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Rominator Data" on Windows 2K/XP/Vista. Can't say for sure in Mac. Also on Windows, at least, it is named saveBackup.rsd and not just backup.rsd. I'm not trying to correct hankchill or anything but that is what it shows up as here.

wheres the userprofile folder located in windows under your harddrive example program files folder windows folder thanks again
