I can't really give an exact time... but I am still working on it
smile.gif
I haven't had too much time to work on it this week (I've been commuting over an hour away to work this week and next week, so it gives me less programming time), but I tackle it when I can
smile.gif
I'll *try* to have something for next week, although I can surely use some beta testers to help me test progress
biggrin.gif

If anyone's interested in beta testing, email or PM me. I need people who are willing to dive in and out the entire program multiple times and give me feedback
smile.gif
Thanks.

...it seems that Rominator does not detect correctly the available space on my microSD flash card.
It always says that there is 1.0B available only, although there is 1.3GB in fact.

This is a pretty straight forward problem, I think. I had this on Windows when I was trying to hide the ROMS folder from Moonshell. I tried using the hide path/file option, but that didn't work, so instead I changed the attribute setting for the ROM folder to ARCHIVE, and then used the Moonshell config file to filter those out.

Guess what?! Caused exactly this issue! I think that the attribute settings (CHMOD in Linux) could be the cause of this. As soon as I changed the attributes back, it worked!

On a related note, does anyone know how to hide the ROM folder from Moonshell, and the media folder from the M3 Simply ROM browser?

I would prefer it if my GF could only access the relevant folders. Even if I could simply lock Moonshell and the browser into the relevant folders, that would be perfect.

Oh, Hank, as far as beta testers go, check your PM's!

hey, hank... found my problem....
and got the exact bug for you.
yeah, I know I've been bitching about how some of the XXXX games work, and game and watch doesn't... chucking DB errors and all.

well, it seems that it's a problem when roms are trimmed.
like 8mb roms, trimmed to 1mb or so.
0248 - Billiard action did the same thing.
note, these games work untrimmed.

This is the ROM issue. I've had people tell me about the Billiard Action not trimming properly, and confirmed that the developers had put the wrong internal rom size inside of the game. There's nothing I can do about that.

just want to say thanks for this great little app, now for my two cents...

1. is it possible in statistics to have it show just the missing roms for a particular region instead of all regions

2. would it be possible to add new release to the rom list b4 they are added to the database update and have them just show a ? or something for number and a blank icon for the picture, then we can keep everything in one place

if these have been suggested ignore me
biggrin.gif

anyway keep up the good work.

They're already being added in

Just wanted to give everyone an update on the beta:

I've recoded the way Rominator handles loading games in the list. With my new test, I placed over 1000 games in my folder, and upon loading Rominator, the list loaded instantly. No more waiting anymore!

I'll be having my beta testers test the program shortly before I release it to the public. Again, guys like mavis are going to be happy
smile.gif

Here's a couple other features that I can disclose to you guys, aside from lists instantly loading:
• Box Art area has an outline
• Administration Mode
• Ability to add any DS game to the list, whether it's in the database or not

Only a few of the many features to come

I'm dying for this release Hank. My entire collection is zipped and I've been holding out for zip support before jumping headfirst into the awesome that is Rominator.

I eagerly await your update.

Now just to be sure, your games are all individually zipped, right? Because that's what Rominator will support

Yup. Each Rom is in its own named zip file.

They might be coupled with nfo's or boxart. I take it Rominator will just scan a zip for an nds file so the other stuff won't get in the way?

That all depends if the Rom is the first item in the list in the Zip file. If it is, then you're good to go. If not, it won't see it. Reason being, is because if it's going to read from the database it needs to extract the first little bit from the rom -- It'll extract the first 512 bytes really fast, and get the database info based on those bytes. If it doesn't read the rom first, it won't work properly.

just a quick one is the help site (http://www.hankchill.com/rominator/help/index.html) unfinished or am i having issues on my end,

cheers

Nope, it's unfinished. I figured I'd finish it when I release the new version, simply because the new version has a lot of changes.

I downloaded Rominator and when I run it, the program is minimized and there is no window appearing. Does anyone know how to fix this?

You guys *really* need to learn to read previous posts before asking questions!

I've already answered this more than one time IN THIS TOPIC.

Last time I'm answering an old question: Hold Shift when loading if you get this issue. This happens because you closed Rominator while it was minimized. Rominator remembers the last position of the window, and if it's minimized, it'll open minimized, and you won't be able to see the window. Again, hold Shift when loading.

Just a future notice for others as well to read previous posts

I know there are a LOT of posts in this thread, but heck, that's what Search is for

Oh, and just a progress update: The code changeover to the new method is almost done. I'll have my testers giving it a go on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Also, wanted to give out another feature: In v3.5, you don't need to download the entire database anymore for each update -- It will only download the database info that is missing from the database. meaning, that there could be a small change to the database, and it would be a few kb to download -- not an entire database anymore. Same goes for when new games come out. If there are like 5 games added to the database, Rominator will get only those 5 games. Sound good?

I know it does
