Couldnt they add backup loading support by using the cIOS rev17 source? You know for the softmod users out there even though I am a modchip user my self.

This looks cool. Sucks most of my games are on USB. My friend might like it, but he's USB too since his DVD drive is next to dead.

Backup support would be nice. If the devs really wanted to, they could likely add the backup support from rev17 to the custom DIP they made for IOS242. As for just grabbing a DIP from rev17 and putting it in, will never happen since it already has a DIP.

Out of curiosity, what does the HAXX module actually do? I know what the DIP does.

the dip in this IOS is not too terribly complex. it is the 07/24/08 DIP many of you already have on your wii with only 7 of 35,500 bytes changed. that means it is 99.98% original. you kiddies will be playing your pirated games with this soon enough.

Well this looks hella cool.

And, to anyone saying "That'll never happen," how the hell can you say that?

Ton's of times, people have claimed "never," and bam. It happens.
I could list tons, but they're all old, with the exception of one-
"You'll never be able to emulate GBA games off a slot-1!!!1" Oops, here comes the SCDS2.

You can't say "never" when it comes to technology. You can say "improbable" at best, but that's usually wrong too.

And even if this is a closed source, you can't tell me there isn't another person that will look at this and say "Oh, i can work around it!" and just rewrite their own code for it to be used in a USB loader.

Anyhoo, no more rant.

I love seeing this kind of thing happen. This is why i love the homebrew scene.

great news! way to go giantpune!

Guys, I want you to know that the devs of Riivolution are watching this thread.

I want you to know that they are reading your claims that this will be a USB loader in a few days, and are laughing at you.

I want you to know that every time you post a comment asking them to put it in, they put in a piracy check just to spite you.

I want you to know that soon, they will run out of ways to do this from your Wii, and are negotiating a deal with the US National Defense Team.

And they will find you.

No matter which country you live in.

No matter which hole you hide in.

And they will take away your ISO’s.

And they will iso-late you.

In a cell.

In the bottom

of nowhere.

This is absolutely true, to the 100th degree.

lmao, omg its a Riivolution! Lets overthrow the gov't while we're at it...

lol

Riivolution, if u r really reading this, thank you for your hard work on this, and I just want u 2 know that just by making this work with usb loaders does not mean it will be used for piracy... as with usb loaders, people can choose to only keep copies of games they legally own (which is legal in some places and not in others).

The point is, I want to see Riivolution work via a usb loader, but I don't intend to start pirating because of it. I've gotten lazy and used to not having to get up to change the disk to play a dif game... I can't go back now!

I saw AerialX reading earlier, so I suppose I won't wait for a relase to say....thanks

Translation and customs are gonna get a whole lot more interesting.

On a side note some chinese guy had this sort of thing done with NeoGamma a few months back.

@TempusC: I dunno if you or any Team-member is/was in the Beta about SNEEK, but when it's out, and it will still fail to load IOS242, you'll have a look at it, and try to fix it?

(Yeah, I know, it's maybe to early to ask this...anyways, I took my chance

I am sorry to ask this, but I am unfamiliar with what Riivolution is used for! Can someone explain in newbie terms?

TIA

A+ post right here.

It is used to replace files in games on-the-fly i.e. you stick in the disc, put the files on the SD card with an XML file, then run Riivolution and the files will be substituted into the game, replacing the already existing ones.

This can be used to replace text, allowing translations of import games, it can be used to load custom levels and textures in games like NSMB and SSBB (textures more so i SSBB), it can be used for custom songs in games like Guitar Hero, RockBand and singing games, and so much more. I hope you get the idea.

It uses a custom loader, and so is inimical to backups through the sheer fact that we didn’t put any backup loading code in it. It’s not protection as much as it is lack of support.

But seriously, they really are coding in piracy checks every time you complain. Hint - complaining more won’t help.

Well, the disc backup loaders are in fact normal wii game loaders with only 1 backup related change: Load IOS249. So if your modified IOS was patched to run backups, your loader will load backups. Ok, adding usb loading would be complicated, but that should be it.

Anyways, i don't really see the point in adding backup loading capability to this. If anybody wants to run a game with a patch available for this, he can just patch the .iso with it and done. Or alternatively, he can develop an addon to the FAT/NTFS loaders that applies the same patches with the available engine as i stated earlier.

There you go pirates: you can use original discs + riivolution, or you can go reinvent the wheel.

Well, if "the wheel was reinvented", you wouldn't have to worry too much about games requiring certain IOS. Like the instrument games require (parts of) IOS37 already, future games might require other IOS. The cIOS will be updated for them, and then the patch engine would automatically work on these games too. Riivolution needs to be updated manually for this. Or does Riivolution patch itself into the IOS the game loads?

Also, does Riivolution feature the stuff other loaders feature too? Ocarina and Wiird support? Brawl+? Video mode patches? Country string patching?

But still, where's the point in this? If you want the patches, do as tueidj says, or just patch the .iso manually.
