So basically I kept my Wii U on my closet for more than a Year now, and wanted to revive it, but here are some info/questions:

As far as I remember, it's on 5.3.2, I used the first gen loadiine for a long time, updated to the GX2, but used less than 5 times

The reason it's without use for so long, is that it was kinda a pain in the *** every time I wanted to play, almost every time I had to look for a DNS server that was working, then look for a website with working loadiine launcher, so it could take more than 20 minutes just to start playing

My use for the Wii U used to be 100% couch gaming on friends house, I never turned it on to play alone on it, but if it was possible to play online I probably would.

So here is some questions I have:

1- Since I'm still on 5.3.2, I suppose I should update it, does letting it update by it's own is safe? If not, how should I do it?

2- Is there a new hack, or update to loadiine that allows you to select games without having to use DNS and open a website?

3- Is there a new hack or update that allows online gaming?

Thanks in advance!

1. It is safe to update to the latest version (5.5.3) if you plan on legitimately purchasing a DS Virtual Console game for Haxchi or CBHC. If you want to use the browser to load hacks/CFW for free, then you should update to 5.5.3 manually while only installing the 5.5.1 version of the internet browser.

2. Most people install games directly to the NAND or USB drive now. Nobody uses Loadiine anymore. This way, games have 100% compatibility, games have normal loading times, and online play works.

3. If you install WUP files to the NAND or USB drive instead of using Loadiine, you can use online play.

Thanks for the answer! I'm surprised how much they improved!

Sorry if it's asking to much, but where can I find the most updated tutorials? I read the noob guide to wii u hacking, but didn't found how to update manually to 5.5.3 while installing the 5.5.1 version of the internet browser :(

Just wanted to say thanks one more time for your help!

I was able to do everything on time for my anniversary (Dec 22nd), played flawlessly with my friends with updates, DLCs without opening the browser :D
For DLC, it will require that you open the browser and load CFW to run those games if you've recently coldbooted the system

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

Not to mention this would be a massive pain to pirate

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
