To me this is a useless buy. To me emulation and WiiVC is a better option.

Interesting though.

i would never buy a wii, its a gimmick of a system that bores me to death with graphics for 13yr olds and games to match. i have a bunch of carts for all 3 systems the retron3 supports. to me this is a great buy and not useless at all. it is 1 system to replace 3.

Okay I can't find the exact page I'm talking about, but here's some examples.

http://filthypants.blogspot.com/2010/12/cr...r-for-snes.html
http://slack.net/~ant/libs/ntsc.html

Games would use "halftones" (checkerboard cutout) to simulate transparency, and would rely on interpolation to mix colors of adjacent pixels (to overcome a limited palette).

You don't get this on laptop screens...

Interesting read, but many current emulators support shaders now. Can't some of this stuff be faked to an extent. (Overall, I agree with the you, though. I just doesn't look the same)

Its very expensive, a netbook with Emulators and Gamepads is more useful...

Yes, and if you follow links you can find lots of examples from people making these filters and trying to get them just right (comparing with a snapshot taken from a capture card).

I don't care that much about it myself, though, but it's certainly interesting from a preservation standpoint.

I'm actually surprised it's taken this long for such a thing to exist what with the development printed circuits etc

As for snailface comment about designer - I would like to agree
Personnally I would've rearranged the slots so that the smaller/shorter cartridges were @ the front with the larger/taller one @ the back
& instead of having the 'standard' game port scattered around the system side/front - I think I would've preferred them all grouped together in one place - perhaps on the top instead of the large power button/selector, then placing the selector/buttons on the front

it's a ok console it's just the wireless pads are pretty useless and don't even work (according to the video review) you can use your own pads on it though.

imo emulation is a much cheaper option, this retro 3 can't even emulate the games properly most emulators out there can almost emulate it better.
