Dumb question: do you need sigpatches with Atmosphere to run any type of Roms in RetroArch on the switch ? or for emulation purposes sigpatches are not needed ?

Thx a lot!

btw the only difference from RA-windows version to switch version regarding BIOS files is that the BIOS files on the switch go on the /cores/system/bios.file folder ? also if needed you can create sub-folder for example like /cores/system/fuse/bios.file (I'm assuming all BIOS files from windows work on the switch?)

You can't put the bios wiles within an arbitrary folder because they cores expect them to be in a specific place within /system/. Some cores will prefer them be inside a folder within /system/ but that is down to the core.

You can however change the /system/ folder to be anywhere on the SD card from Settings-Directory.

Yah thats what I meant when a core requires a sub-folder inside the system folder.

I heard that the scanning process can be slow on the switch so I will use RetroArch Playlist Buddy tool to make my playlists, but I have a question, does anyone know if you can specify the core to use with this tool for the switch (for pc you can it says 'ends on .dll or .so) but for the switch it should end on .nro so can I manually alter it to .nro and it will work ?

Yes, but since manual scanning became a thing, i stopped using Playlist Buddy. I think manual scan is more than enough and it's never been slow for me.

Yeah, manual scan is the way to go. Scanning is slower on Switch if you have full rom sets due to how long it take to go through lots of small files on SD card.

Yo, anyone testet n64 emulation lately? i'd like to get in to the rare games on my switch but i know most of the lag pretty badly, especially goldeneye.

There have been some small fixes for Goldeneye recently, but don't get your hopes up. More work goes into mupen64plus next than any other core, but a small handful of games will likely always run badly.

yeah... i imagine

Has anyone been able to run the full version of Wolfenstein 3D and Spear with ECWolf on Switch?
So far, I've been only able to run the shareware version, but not the full one.

Aside from that, anyone has a Donkey Kong 64 SRM 100% save which could please share? :p

I have everything zipped (or in the case of disc images, compressed using chd, cso or whatever). In the context of SD cards the space saving can be significant.

In the case of Sega CD and TurboGrafx-CD, you can even compress audio as iso+ogg using CDCRUSH if you want to further save space by using lossy compression. This can be smaller than chd if you have many audio tracks.
