Why does retroarch corrupt the emunand if the SD is in exfat, but other emulators like Pfba work without a problem?
Hi, Alan.
I first started with exFat aswell. But I switched to FAT32 to be sure, I can only advise that.
It's no problem at all to generate splitted XCIs that is the only difference anyway.

Hi All, need a bit of help.
Am on 1.8.5 with latest cores updated online.
Flycast crashes RA straight after the Sega logo.
I tried about 10 different GDI files with the same result.
I tried an older version of the flycast core I found in this thread just to be sure and it's the same.
I also tried with DC bios files and it's the same.
I am on SX OS.
I can run other cores like Muppen64, PSX, PSP without any problem.

Thanks for any advise.

Reset RA configs to defaults, try atmosphere, idk.. Everything works fine.

Ping, SXOS doesn't work with Flycast or vice versa...

Wow, it's almost like everyone has always recommended against using SX OS for a reason.
the OP said:
SX OS or any other CFW outside of Atmosphere/Kosmos is not officially supported.
I wonder why...

/s

On a sidenote: I can confirm that Flycast does seem to freeze every so often (about every 15-30 minutes or so), but can be 'dismissed' by toggling the menu. Not sure why this is happening...

Actually all homebrew will corrupt an exfat SD card eventually, the problem is with reading and writing. Retroarch corrupts it faster because the amount of reads and writes it does to the SD is bigger than most homebrew apps do.

...still crashes after sega logo.
I even even don't get a logo. What have you used ?
I took the correct bios files in system/dc and tried cdi and gdi files.
Always crashing after black screen.
The strange thing is after selecting a file I'm not asked for a core to select.

Don't waste your energy on this, Flycast just crashes on SX OS and there's no point arguing why it does it.
To answer your question, if you use bios files, it will black screen and crash.
Remove the bios files, you will get the Sega logo and then crash.
RA doesn't ask for the core after first run.

Ah, I read that flycast is purposely made not work with SXOS, so no fault of SXOS at all ;)
That makes sense because I never had any problems with HB and SXOS.

And care to source were you have read it? It would be quite a simple thing to prove since flycast is open source so I assume this strike from flycast against SX is quite well documented, also quite a simple thing to fork and patch to make it work, wonder why we still don't have such unofficial builds around the internet ;)

Did someone managed to get Coleco Vision roms working with the bluemsx core?
I followed the instructions from here: https://docs.libretro.com/library/bluemsx/#bios.
But it crashes RA straight away.
Am on SX OS so that can always be a problem.

What are your results?

Has no one experience with NeoGeoCD ???
Straight crash for me using neocd and fbalpha cores. I tried putting neogeocd bioses in system folder but no luck.
Disclaimer am on SXOS.

Yes the evidence that this is sabotage is some guys' speculation....

m4wx has periodically had to ask for changes to Atmosphere itself to allow the cores he is working on to run, particularly for dynarecs. SXOS is slow to getting around to copying these atmosphere code changes so it could be quite a while before it can support. Of course no-one there is eager to help SXOS either but its not sabotage, everything they do is freaking open source so TX can fix their CFW at any time they cared enough.

Ah yes, quoting a source that makes accusations without further sources.
If you actually, somehow have convinced yourself that m4 goes out of his way to make cores magically not work in SX OS specifically, when the front bloody page states, and I (literally) quote:
the OP said:
  • SX OS or any other CFW outside of Atmosphere/Kosmos is not officially supported.
...Then, no offense, you are in need of help and I hope you make a swift recovery.

So your sources is someone saying something without sources? You could have a great future being a journalist in america, lol.
Anyways, any coder will know going out of your way to make code that excludes a platform and simply targeting a platform are two complete diferrent things. I make a homebrew manager for PS Vita that targets Linux, it works horrible on Windows, doesn't mean I'm running a strike against Windows, I simply don't support it and my software was not meant, optimized or even tested to run on it.
Until I see some lines of code that make flycast purposefully not work on SX I'm gonna simply call this what it is: bullshit.
