Would be great if you can share thanks.

Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk
Well because it runs from an older retroarch build it won't have the same options and same ui as the latest builds but you can still navigate through menus etc and it'll use the same config from the 2005 snes9x core. It runs games great though but if your a perfectionist you may not like it. I'll find it now on my pc and upload it

Ive no idea who made it i seen it on reddit maybe 6-8 months ago but for the games i play it works perfectly. Maybe not so for other people depending on what they play. Theres an icon included too which you can just replace in ur0:appmeta as its using a png image for the bubble icon and the id is RETR00030. just replace and reboot your vita for it to show. Ive put it on mega as file is too large for gbatemp. Let me know what you think or anyone else that try's it cause I've not used any other snes core in a while cause I think this runs ok

I'm wondering if there are any improvements actively being made to the VBA Next core? It's really good now and I feel with one more big push it could achieve fullspeed-emulation for all GBA games. Sorry if I seem presumptuous, I really appreciate all the great work that's been done so far, I'm just really curious about the future potential of this emulator!

I used to use that version then I tried the latest version of snes9x2005 and I think it has slightly better sound, only thing is it has slight graphical glitch in chrono trigger opening cutscene but apart from that its okay.

It's pretty good overall but it performance can differ drastically from game to game. Aria of Sorrow for example was basically perfect for me, Sonic Advance only started stuttering in the final couple stages. The Pokemon games get a bit choppy once you leave the starting town and get into battles but they're still very playable.

The real problem are things like the two Metroid games, the IntSys games (Fire Emblem, Advance Wars) or Final Fantasy VI which all run at 50-60fps and have choppy sound. I haven't tried that many games but those are some pretty "mainstream" titles. If they exhibit performance problems like that then I think there's still some work to be done. I do really appreciate what's been done so far though!

What system and emulator should I prefere actually for GBA emulation.
The Vita with VBA-N (libRetro) or mGBA or the 3DS with VC, VBA-N (libRetro) or mGBA.

Edit:

Testing with "Metroid - Zero Mission"

Vita: mGBA 0.7-4818 around 48 FPS, VBA-N 1.6.7 (libRetro) around 57 FPS
Vita: VBA-N crashed the Vita already severaly times. So its not worth using it a the moment.

3DS: mGBA 0.7-4818 around 45 FPS, gPSP (libRetro ) around 59 FPS, no VBA-N/M
3DS: gPSP crashed the 3DS very often. So its not worth using it a the moment.

Did you test with No Intro ROMs?

I haven't gotten so many crushes.

Yes.

I have to try an older release and one of the nightlies, also.
What RetroArch version you are using right now?

For me RetroArch is also crashing often while only opening a rom.
I have installed the complete RetroArch package not only a single core package.

Anyone else with a SD2Vita Adapter get this problem:
You load up a Core, say MAME 2003, you Load a Rom from the SDCard.......it Loads up........but when you try to get to the RetroArch Menu.......it crashes on you? Any way of fixing this? Finally got a Adapter, and have close to everything on it except Vita Games. PSPEmu, PSX, Arcade, Console Roms are all on it. Which means if it can not be fixed, that means no Cheats or Save/Load States, or Adjusting any Settings.

I could replicate the crash with VBA-N on 1.6.4, 1.6.7 and nightly.
While trying to create a Savestate the Vita crashes everytime for me.

For me, I have all my Roms on the Adapter SD Card. RetroArch is Installed on the Vita. I Tested running a PSP Game on the Adapter with Adrenaline running from it, and it worked perfectly. Was able to run, make Saves, and Exit the Game. But actually, it seemed like Loading Roms took a little longer than it used to from the Vita Card. But like I said, I try to go into the RetroArch Menu, it Pauses.....then I get the Crash Message.
Installing the more recent Nightly right now just in case. But if it happens again, might need to adjust some Settings to accommodate the SD2Vita

Strange, i use VBA from 1.6.7 and savestate works perfectly.
Anyway i use playlist; i dont load any core, its automatic when i load a game from the list.
From who didn't use playlist, try to load directly a game and not a core, then select the wanted core from suggest compatibily core list after you select a game.

P.S: ah, i use ur0 as savestate folder. Its 2x faster than any memory card while saving :D

Hmm.. I am loading the roms from uma0: actually. Maybe thats the problem?
Have to change it to ur0: and test again.

Edit: Nope, same problem.

I'm using 1.6.3 with games on a Sony card set as uma:0 and the retroarch on the SD2vita as ux0: . No crashes here. thats using VBA.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.
