CatSFC doesn't make use of dynarec, so running it in .cia form won't have any major advantages over the .3dsx form. For instance, I'm running Zelda Link to the Past on O3DS via CatSFC.cia and getting about 25FPS, which is less than half speed. With audio sync off, it goes to about 40FPS, which is still less than ideal. How much faster/better are the CIA versions compared to the 3DSX ones? I'm currently on 9.5, so CIA would require downgrading. But only if it's worth the risk.
I'm mostly running SNES games, using the catsfc core
GPSP on the other hand, does make use of dynarec and runs at mostly full speed 60FPS.
