Hi,

This started as a Time Crisis port for the Switch with motion controls, then it turned into a full System 22 port.
It's based on MAME with switch-specific optimizations, and it's 99.99% AI-coded.
I wanted to finish it before releasing, but every new day brings a new Ridge Racer / System 22 port, so here's mine.
This release is a beta, it's full featured but requires some polishing, controls may be messy but you can already enjoy most games and get an idea of what the final version will look like.
Most games have only been tested for a few minutes, so you may run into slowdowns / bugs. If you do, please tell me what / where.

Time Crisis requires a small GPU overclock ("GPU Overclock 384 MHz (Handheld)" in the game's X menu) to be at 60 FPS, at least in handheld mode: it isn't a stable 60 FPS without it (it hasn't been fully tested either).

Each game's enhancements can be configured with X. You can launch a game in Original or Enhanced mode: give Enhanced a try, it looks nice.

The code will be released once it's cleaned up a bit.

Get the first test release here : https://github.com/r4dius/system22-nx/releases/tag/0.1

To get it working
  • Extract system22-nx folder on your "/switch" SD card folder
  • Add roms to "roms" subfolder, including "namcoc71.zip" and "namcoc74.zip" files

We were talking a while ago about the Sega Model 3 port to Switch.
Do you think you could resume the project with the help of AI?
Thank you so much!!!

Hi, it’s still in the pipe, I’ve been working on it for months, but at best it’s not 100% full speed yet like on Scud Race, and it’s way too slow on other games like Daytona 2.

I’ll get back to it soon, maybe I’ll try some per-game decompilation or something similar. AI evolves so fast that things that weren’t working well one or two months ago are working now.

I did System 22 because it was easier to get good performance, and also to learn some things that might be useful for other projects, I’ve got a few other ones to finish before Supermodel, but it’s not dead yet :)

I finally finished the Switch port!

Installation
  1. Extract the zip to the root of your SD card
  2. Put your own MAME-style ROM zips in /switch/supermodel/ROMs/
  3. Optional: put your own NVRAM files in /switch/supermodel/NVRAM/ (e.g. daytona2.nv), or set each game up once in its test menu (Test = right stick click)

That’s all I did, just make the ROMS folder and dump them in there and they came up as a list

The motion controls are amazing. I honestly am shocked we didn't get light gun games other than those terrible HOTD remakes on Switch considering how well this works.

r4dius do what publishers don't!

I have been having random atmosphere crashes 10+ minutes into gameplay tho.

they dont reconize my roms?
You need mame roms versions

Please let me know what firmware are you using ?
How do you run the nro ? I'm always running from hbmenu in Title Takeover / Application Mode

How accurate can the joycons get? I have to hold them aiming above the screen to get the cursor to work

22.5.0, ams 1.11.2, and actually I installed it as a forwarder to my home menu. I'll try it out just from regular homebrew menu.

You can recenter the cursor at any time clicking the stick. Z3 or ZS or whatever Nintendo called it.
