Hello guys!

Since the official forum is now down, I don't know where to ask
for this, but is someone able to compile Retroarch builds with
a different save folder location?

By default, RA saves its content on SD://Retrarch.

I know we can change the paths using the emulator
options, however, the very main CFG file will be always
at SD://Retroarch/retroarch.cfg.

I really really would like to have few more builds
of Retroarch, each saving in different folders by default.

Thanks!
Cospefogo.

Same question on my side.
I read you can use multiple cfg files.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/RetroArch

However I dunno how to create multiple cfg files for different cores.
Beside the savestate folder I would also like to have different controller mappings and aspect ratios/resolutions (e.g. different aspect ratio for GBA games etc.) for some cores.

Papermanzero,

I tried several methods this weekend (even HEX edit on the .DOLs) and
none gave me a solid result. All my parallel installed retroarch keep
searching and using/and updating the very same .CFG file located at
SD://retroarch.retroarch.cfg, despite all my efforts to make each build
to look the .CFG file in its very own folder.

But no fear!

The upcoming version will have CONFIGURATIONS saved on a core basis!
This will be one of the new features! (I am eager for that)!

However, I foresee one problem yet...
NEOGEO.

NEOGEO has two different screen sizes, and if you don't believe,
do the tests!

Some games are 304x224 (you need to setup video at 640x480p and size to 608x448.)
Example: Metal Slug 1.

And some are 320xx24 (you need to setup video at 640x480p and size to 640x448.)
Example: Samurai Spirits 2.

It is pretty simple to spot the scrolling artifacts...
Just set Samurai Spirits 2 under both resolutions mentioned above
and you will find out. PAY ATTENTION to the moving BG on the character selection screen.

=)

Regards,
C.

Awesome news!
So I can separate the cores with different config files (e.g. for savestates, controller mappings, resolutions)

Kinda concerned about the happenings with this emulator. As of today, it's no longer showing up on the Google Play store, had to get the apk from a subsite of theirs.

First of all, I don't know if this is what happened. I'm sorry if i'm wrong.

...If I remember corretly, the Retroarch Team were pissed off because other "developers" (If you want to call them that) copied RA with minimal changes and put them on Playstore and other markets.

I can understand them, they did all the work, but others can take what you did, put some icons here and there, and presto, you can live with the work of others. The worst part, as this guys said, is the fact that you can't do anything or take legal actions to avoid this kind of problems (One of the worst parts of this kind of markets).

I also remember that they said they would remove Retroarch for this platforms and stop developing for them, as, I said, they're just working so others take credit (And money in some cases).

But of course, I'm not saying this is what happened, just that I read those comments in their forum a while ago.

Performance on this emu is pretty amazing.

BT anyone having issues running Neo Geo games? I fail to load ALL of them, I have searched for this and mostly they say that roms bigger then 10 MB may crash the emu, but then how come I can load Marvel vs Capcom 1 (cps2) wich is 52mb and run it fine?

Keep it up guys at RA!

EDIT: LOL Im so dumb, NeoGeo bios... :glare:

Also make sure you are using Final burn alpha roms, NOT Mame ones.

Thanks, yes I was using FBA roms from the begginning but was missing the Neo bios lol.

BTW they are implementing mame 2013 in the upcoming build. Im crossing all my fingers for them to port it to Wii and at least support the Mortal Kombat games!

Yeah if the Wii can't handle Outrun I wouldn't get my hopes up for those at fullspeed, hope I'm wrong though. I'd say a cheap Android tablet like a Nexus is the way to go if you want more games running on your tv.

The host or provider that hosted the site went down out of the blue, and LibreretroRetroArch can't get a hold of the host's email or phone number. I was following his conversation on IRC and said they have to find another host, scrape what they have from Google cach and start from square one.

In the mean time, this might be another place to check it out

Will there be a Playstation Emu?? WiiSX is prob dead

A lot would have to be done to make a port, optimize it, test it, etc, but how feasible, I don't know. We know WiiSX is based off of PCSX-R, which is what the PSX core in RetroArch uses (or another branch of PCSX). Whether they want to or not, I don't know, but I wouldn't mind having an alternative to WiiSX. Speaking of which, the original author is supposedly working on it, or maybe just Wii64. :P

I doubt anythng beyond 16bit will ever run fullspeed on a wii.

Im happy with the neogeo and cps2 cores. I never had a Neo Geo back in the 90s, it was way too expensive.

MK1-3, KI, Shinobi, Moonwalker in fullspeed would make RA perfect for me.
