A few weeks ago, one of my friends tried to install a9lh in its Gateway-ish 9.2 console. The 2.1 downgrade worked correctly, but the SD card got corrupted, and he was unable to run any application (including the web browser). He tried to upgrade to 7.x using a card, but the problem was still there. He used the recovery mode and could update to 11.2 and fix the problem.

In order to downgrade once again, we bought Field Runners and transfered but since he had the MSET patched, he is unable to run any DS/DSi application, so he couldn't downgrade NFIRM :-( He had bought another new console anyway, but he would like to recover his old one.

Is it possible to restore it in 11.2 with just homebrew?

Hardmod is probably your only solution, or a new ARM11 Kernel exploit released, but the latter is unlikely to happen at the moment.

The mset exploit is removed when you run a DS/DSiWare game, it shouldn't be causing problems. Have you tried going into the DS Profile settings and changing the settings there?
