So I had sucessfully got CFW working on my n3ds and upgraded to 11.4, tried to stream the video to pc (the reason I wanted cfw in the first place) but it doesn't work on 11.4

So I NAND restore back to 11.2 and all my stuff is gone. Upgrade back to 11.4 (I forgot to make 11.4 nand backup :() and redownload Sun via the eshop (bought legit didital version of the game) and my save is gone. I made a backup of the sd card before starting the cfw process but after the nand reset and update to 11.4 it doesn't read my files from the back up now. Both where made on same console.

So I tried making a new save file for SUN and then swapping them out but SUN reads the old save as corrupt. Really don't want to start this game over. Tried using savedatafiler and it sees the original save but reads it as --broken-- and wont let me do anything with. Is there a way to get this original save to work on the game again?

How did you make a backup? Using Nintendo's backup or using JKSM?

Nope, I believe you just lost your save. Next time, use JKSM
is there no way of using that now with the old file to recover it and import it to the game? I read you can change the Secure Value to move saves between systems so I imagine thats my issue here but I can't find a secure value file for sun anywhere and the patcher only goes up to X and Y

It's not just a matter of the secure value. Saves are encrypted and if you didn't use a proper save dumper that decrypts the save, you can't restore it until it's been re-encrypted. Specifically with pokemon the decrypted save file is called "main", which you can't access through the SD card itself.
